Porcello, righty vs. Sherzer, righty

I'm doing this because I've lived here off and on since 1946, but I'm not going to the game tonight. Too darn hot. Summer has finally hit DC.

The Nationals stink lately, almost reminiscent of the old Senators (Washington, first in war, first in peace, and last in the American League) which Teddy Ballgame (Williams) once managed.

But the Nats have a huge pitching edge tonight, much like last night's debacle.

Let's see if our guys can bounce back despite not getting out of NYC until midnight or later.

Being a National League park with no DH, JD gets the night off tonight. He will be playing in the remaining 2 games with Beni and JBJ each getting a day off.

Scherzer has given up more than 2 runs in a game only once all season.

Makes you wonder how he's lost 4 games.

The offense has to find a way to get to their bullpen.

Sox traded Lester in July 2014, that November they sign Hanley and Sandoval instead of Scherzer, then the next winter they sign Price for $7M more than what Scherzer got.

You can't coach stupid, especially when it's in the Front Office.

Ouch! That hurts. :-(

Rick Porcello busts Scherzer's bubble. Nice anticipation by Leon to get out of Rick's way by swinging at a ball between his legs

Man you have got to give Rick tremendous credit there. Talk about stepping up. He might not be great. But he is not the choke job we had last night.

That was all tremendous determination. That was not at all a bad pitch particularly to the opposing pitcher. Just a little up in the zone but Rick should have never been able to get around on that....NEVER!!!!

The three ESPN guys were falling all over themselves laughing about the Scherzer/Porcillo match-up. Baseball IS a funny game.
