Price was a blue chip elite prospect when he was drafted #1 overall and since then he has been an elite performer at every level including 10 years in the big leagues. Leaving out his cup of coffee in his first season, he has averaged 180 innings each year with 8.6 strikeouts per 9 innings and a 3.25 ERA. This guy is a valuable commodity. His career has been one of consistent excellence.

Let's hope JBj rides this hot streak all the way to October!

People were so sure he'd never get hot again. How about the chances on him never going cold again?

(Maybe the same, huh? Zero?)

Wanted to throw this out there. We are starting a contest to see who can predict Baltimores run differential at the end of the season. First place you win amazing prizes.

In general, it's just a goofy TalkSox community contest where the winner gets to win some cool stuff.

Here's the thread, it's down in the contest TalkSox area.

I have to wonder if sometimes Mike Trout wishes he was on a different team. Can you imagine if he was on the Sox or the Yankees? Or Houston or Washington? That would terrifying to the opposing team. I drool a little thinking about a 1-2-3 of Betts-Trout-Martinez. If I was a pitcher who saw that lineup card I'd s*** myself.

Just walk them all. At least you wouldn't have to worry about a career-ending whiplash injury.

With Trout in the line-up the Angel Team has a .245 BA, take him out its .236. Huge difference for one guy, stop him probably good chance of beating Angels. Not a good hitting team. Trout main reason they have winning record.

Taking a bit further Trout has a .356 BA with RISP and a .300 BA with 2 outs and RISP, don't pitch to him in critical situation in game. Poor Trout never has enough opportunities to drive in runs, not many on in front of him.

Now for me its next game for Price Sunday night in NY. Then I'll be more convinced.

Part of the reason for so few RBI opportunities is that they put him in the 2 slot.

I like putting your best hitter 2nd, but they don't put Simmons up 1st (.372 OBP), instead, they put Kinsler (.265 OBP) and Cozart (.331 OBP) in front of him.

Their 9 slot has a .284 OBP.

It really does seem like Price has been given the luxury of 'peace of mind' since his carpal tunnel diagnosis. Since then, he has pitched great. I am anxious to see how he pitches against the Yankees this weekend. I have a feeling that he will continue to pitch great.

Trout has 17 HRS out of 24 HRS with the bases empty. Solo HRS during game don't kill you, late in game different story. 7th inning on in tie game with no men on walk him. Take your chances. Edited by OH FOY!

Price appears to be successfully transitioning from the fireballer he once was into a guy who changes speeds and pitches to more contact. That bodes well for the life of his contract at least for being able to pitch effectively.

Yanks aren't tearing it up against Lefties this year too. Hitting .255 as a team. We are hitting .250. So not a big deal. Guy you got to worry about is Stanton, he is hitting .351 against Lefties this year. Yanks have 21 more at bats against Lefties this year than us, with 17 more HRS.

So Power is a factor there.

While I did from time to time acknowledge your insistence he would come around, I was one of the naysayers even though I was always fine with whatever Cora decided.

I also came to recognize that replacing him with a good bat would not be simple or easy because DD really doesn't have a lot of moves he can make right now.

What he has been doing for the last 2 or more games is nothing less than spectacular. He's hitting the ball hard consistently and to all fields.

I honestly did not think Price was at his best last night. I did think it was gutsy because he struggled with the changeup and had to throw a lot of fastballs and cut fastballs. If there was a curve or slider, I don't remember seeing it.

Don't misunderstand me. When I say subpar, I also recognize that he did 6 innings and gave up 1 run against a team with winning record. It's important for the really good starters to show they can be tough too.

Guy pitching tonight for Angels, Heaney has dropped his ERA almost 2 runs in his last 10 starts. Opponents are hitting .210 against him last 2 Months. Maybe just a hot thing. We'll find out.
