Just a thought but do you really think Brock had a strait steal on ???? I don't !!! I think mr JBJ was supposed to put wood on that ball and didn't protect the player ..

There is no way you do a hit and run with a guy on 2nd and a guy struggling at the plate.

He singled, walked and made a nice running catch today. Not sure what more in one game you want from #9 hitter.

Do you think he is a productive hitter JB ? I'll shut up if you do because my response wouldn't matter .

This year, no. But the last three years he's been solid hitter and positive WAR player.

Good game by the pen today, Velazquez is probably player of the game for limiting the damage and giving the team two solid innings in a 1 run game.

I've never seen a hitter have a stretch of just consistently hitting the ball with authority quite like JD since the trade to Arizona. If he had a little less swing-and-miss to his game, I don't even know how far he could go offensively (although not gonna hit .400, that's a pipe dream). But Jesus, dude can flat-out hit.

Shout out to my Mom who is no longer with us. She was about 5 foot 5 and if I any of you acted a fool she would kick our ass, or if someone threatened us she would woop their ass. then go back to watching Dr. Who or Masterpiece Theature. She was a very tough person who loved me fiercely. She also played the bagpipes.

Pretty cool woman.

How would you compare him with another great RHH, Manny?

Indeed. He's currently leading the majors in hard-hit percentage and #2 in BABIP, 'cause that's what happens when you barrel it up just about every freaking time. Glad he's on our team.

f***ing Celtics!

Up by 28 late in the 4th.

LOL!!!!! So much for all those pundits and their forecasts of doom for the green.

Another 10+ K game for our staff.

Velazquez is a savior.

Good to see JBJ get on base twice and steal a base.

Kelly has stepped it up this year.

JD & Betts are gods.

Keep on winning, boys!

The approach is similar yet different in one key aspect. Martinez (as he has said himself) is always looking for a pitch to drive in the air. Manny loved to go 5.5 when pitchers were trying to beat him in with hard stuff and he was behind in the count. Still, Manny was born to hit, JD had to turn himself into an elite hitter. More than one way to skin a cat.

JD seems more Adrian Gonzalez to me than Manny. Just now looking at Manny's life time stats...... almost fell out of my chair.

Two wins before going back to Fenway still tied with the Yankees for the best record in MLB. Nice. Semi-miraculous that Toronto only scored 3 runs, but the bullpen was great this time. Three vs. Oakland then four vs. the Orioles. Yankees go on the road.
