Much needed win. Didn’t get to see the game as I was working. But the Yankees being right on our ass we need to pull out as many wins as possible especially against teams like this. Stat wise it looks like Poms has another rough day :( How did he look?

Typical Pom.

He looked lousy for 3 innings then great for 2-3 innings.

Ultimately he did his job keeping his team in the game while Mookie raked.

Great win thanks to the mojo of Station 13 and A700hitter. Thanks, guys.

Fascinating baseball game. Pom starts out horrible, gets a quality start. Kelly looks OK, but not Barnes, and Kimbrel comes right back out and gets a very nice save.

Mookie unreal, just unreal. Plus JD made a very good swing on that 2 run dinger. Go, Astros!

If moonslav reads this, I would like his thoughts on CERA with respect to Leon and Vazquez.

CERA needs it’s own thread... you can’t just pop up a heated CERA argument out of the blue to unknowing recipients in the middle of an ongoing thread. It’s just frowned upon, that’s all. :o lol

I liked our staff before the season started. We've had many pitcher injuries and still we are 3rd in pitcher WAR and ERA-.

I give some credit to Vaz & Leon for that. It's not something easily quantifiable. I often catch grief for only dealing with numbers and data, but there are many opinions I hold based on just my beliefs. This is one.

Might take him a while to get back into the swing of things from missing time. But we won that is all that matters. But definitely don’t feel as confident with him pitching as last year. Hopefully as he pitches more he will get better.

Couple of takes from the team the last month ....Johnson is not a MLB reliever he's a AAA player his nothing FB and his below average breaking ball is laughable to hitters ..Nuney has struggled at bat and at 2b he will get better now that the heat is here .... Devers who is still my favorite player is a mess both with the bat and with the Glove ....he's going to get better and better with only time and reps in my opinion ....lay off the high heat kid .Vaz and Sndy have been horrible for too long going back to last year and further in Sandys case ....Either roll the dice with Swihart or make a trade for a real threat behind the plate ...don't give me they are some great game callers lol paleeeeeze .JBJ is still an amazing Defensive savant but he has proven he for years now he can't hit consistently enough ...Cora has to do something about CF and C .....Mookie Is a once in a lifetime player ....we must extend Mookie Betts he's the face of this franchise going forward ....Xander Wow now this is the guy I am sooooo impressed with this year !!! Between the more aggressive bat to that power stroke ???? Holy s*** X well done man ...No slight on Mook he's obviously the best player we have but X is just such a great story going forward ....Craig k man to me is a must extend along with Mook and X ...Ok here's the one that hurts to say .....He's a f favorite .....Benny has been catastrophic on the bases to the point you cringe every time he gets on ....his bat has been meh but I expect him to heat up .......PEdey will be the glue that repairs that middle infield ....if Pedey can be aggressive and buy in to the approach the team has we are golden if not I'd trade him in the offseason for someone who can and will.Porcello has been an Ace this year amazing bounce back that I never thought I'd see ...I was throwing dirt on Porcello less than 60'days ago .Cora .....well he's been a better manager at this stage than I'd like to credit him for but he's had his moments ...I love this team I truly see big things for this group with JD solidifieng the middle .Speaking of JD !!!! The guy is worth every penny ...the guy is as advertised .Time to put some wins together with Texas now and yanks going to cle . Edited by Natick to NC

good golly, miss molly, but I think Pom now has a quality start. Who woulda thunk it?

Pom ended up pitching a very decent game after a very shaky start. Good to see.

That's good enough for me.

Just watched the video replay of Betts' HRs. Did anyone notice where that pitch was on the third one? Even Remy pointed out how ridiculous that was. It was almost an intentional ball and he still hit it out to the deepest part of Fenway.

4 HR and we only put up 5 runs.

The bottom of the order, who is up before Mookie after the first inning, have not been hitting their weight. I don't expect high average hitters in the 7 through 9 slots, but these guys haven't hit 200. Maybe Holt can give us more but our catchers are very weak hitters, Bradley is also and when we run Lin out there we have three guys who don't put anyone on base for Mookie.

Missed the game, but man is Mookie a beast. We are witnessing a 5 tool player, entering his prime, just dominating the game. It is a treat to be able to watch this guy play every day.

Gold Glove defense.

Power

Hitting for average

Very good base runner

Nice arm

Having a RF like Fenway's makes Mookie is indespensable.

If mookie is on fire, what do we make of benintendi and bradley’s struggles?

We accept that players slump at times- JBJ more than most.

Are you hinting at ;ine-up construction issues?

Cora shot it down and said Betts is staying at lead off for rest of the season. not a big deal, the 7-8-9 spot needs to improve.

It will. These guys are not this bad.

I've said it many times before, Mookie Betts alone is worth the price of admission.

I'm hoping that he remains healthy and continues to play for the Sox for a long time.

That wrist must have been really bothering him last season. He seems to be back to his old self.

With all the talent he has, he also seems to be a pretty good guy. He really is a guy that we should have representing us for a long time.

Also, did I hear right when I was watching that Pomeranz hit 99 on the radar gun or did I just dream that?

This may have gotten overlooked, but yeah. He’s the face of the franchise for me. Has been for a while. Not when Ortiz retired, but around when he announced his upcoming retirement.

One thing, you want Betts leading off. With the way the bottom 3 are struggling at this point, if you bat Betts 3rd or 4th, might miss an extra at bat in a game. Could be a difference in a game. You want him up as many times as you can.

1 more run then your Opponent, is the only number I really care about.

Link, please. :)

There's no way I'm going through that entire offseason thread. I may be ridiculous, but I'm not that ridiculous.

I believe someone said it so it's true.

I thought Mookie was a primadonna for not signing and extension this offseason?

If he was offered one, you can bet it was advantageous to the FO and not to Mookie. He was right not to sign an extension.
