In this thread I thought it might be fun to track a fictional team composed of all ex-Red-Sox players and see how they do in comparison to the ones who stayed. First I'll need help filling out the roster; you can find the list of eligible players here: http://www.soxprospects.com/exprospects.htm, although it lists players who currently don't have a job like Ryan Hanigan. Still currently playing, and yes ANY player who either was drafted by Boston or played for Boston. I want to compare the stats of the current Sox against those of the ex-Sox, so we can assess the decision to pass on those players. For instance, I really want to compare how Rafael Devers is doing to Travis Shaw, Xander Bogaerts to Jose Iglesias, Mookie Betts to Josh Reddick, Dustin Pedroia to Jed Lowrie, etc.

That's pretty thin gruel, to be perfectly honest. Lester was a big loss, and I think Lackey (after tommy john) was too.

 

Rizzo for Gonzalez was a gamble, but Rizzo wasn't even in mlb yet.
