You are overreacting. Pissing and moaning about a manager letting a 4-0 lead slip away in the 8th inning against a half-assed team is to be expected. Stop wringing your hands about it. Cora will live.

Kimbrel, who did not pitch in game 1, has now saved the next two games, in both of which he was desperately needed. Cora did not, repeat, did not let that lead slip away. Check the box score. Kelly and Smith let it get away.

Cora blew that game. He left Kelly in too long. Even if Kimbrel was unavailable, it was obvious that Kelly was imploding. Anybody but him would have been an improvement after the second walk.

That is the only objective way to say what happened. Objective and accurate.

Objectively, he gave his 2 most experienced relievers (not naned Kimbrel) a chance to get 3 outs against a AAAA offense and they couldn’t do it.

Mop up Duty 11 of 14 IP were with a 4 run or more lead

Horseshit. You didn't even look it up.

6 of the IP were in extra innings with the score tied.

Here are Kelly's leverage splits for 2017:

High .523 OPS

Med .502

Low .643

So he was actually excellent in high leverage situations.

I'm by no means a big fan of Kelly, but if you're going to slag a guy like that you have to at least use the right numbers.

He plays him game 1, Kimbrel is not available for the two games he did save. You can’t manage the first game of the season likes it’s a playoff game. Right now Cora looks a whole lot smarter than the critics.

Precisely.

I'm done with Holt already and want him DFA for Swiharts bat ....this team needs every impact bat in this lineup it can get ...Sandy ,Holt ,JBJ have proven they are who they are get this kid in the lineup or trade him to a team that will actually let him get at bats ...NOW.....4 runs in 18 innings against the Rays ???? Anemic and paethetic make a lineup change put in Swihart ....try to spark this zombie offense , Edited by Natick to NC

I am of the opinion that a manager's in game decisions do not impact the outcome of the games as much as most people think they do. To blame a manager for the loss of a game is silly.

You have already locked up the Most Impatient Poster of the Year Award. :D

Holt has 4 plate appearances and 2 walks so far.

Meanwhile Boone is getting roasted by a lot of Yankee fans for his bullpen moves yesterday. They are also questioning having Judge in CF and why Gregorius was hitting cleanup instead of Sanchez yesterday. Too funny.

I have no doubt. LOL

Then again, unlike Cora, we've decided that Boone is a doofus, right?

I am very hopeful that Boone is a doofus, and he sure looked like one yesterday, leaving poor Betances in for 40 pitches and total humiliation.

I am very hopeful that Cora is going to be an excellent manager.

Wow. Only 3 games in and only one inning where Sox pitching has allowed more than 1 run, and already NINE PAGES worth of posts second-guessing Cora.

Somewhere, John Farrell is laughing....

Didn't Grigorius bat cleanup against Cleveland in the ALDS last year? Was it a mistake when he homered twice of the Cy Young winner in game seven of thst series?

Solid point, although I think Barnes is more experienced than Smith...

Now you know why JD wanted so many opt out clauses.

Lineups don't matter either, so why bother wasting money on a manager. Edited by a700hitter

I love the argument of "lineups don't matter" and 'players lose the game not managers" and etc. so why the f*** do managers make millions?
If the lineups don't matter and the in-game decisions don't affect the games, why waste money on them. Teams have Press Secretaries to deal with the media. They have pitching coaches to keep the pitchers ready.

Aaron Boone is getting slagged again for today's loss. Looking like a doofus. :D

It will be a long and interesting season.

It's just really fun to see the vaunted Yanks falter. And in such colorful fashion!

He said doofus.

How about the "cajones grandes" that Cora showed today by bringing in Exxon spokesperson Joe Kelly to close. I guess he thought the unleaded that Kelly was throwing would be a little less incendiary than bringing in Smith and his JP4. Three one run games in a row, I am all out of fingernails.

If he turns out to make Joe Girardi look like a competent manager, I'll gladly accept it.

And it's April 1.

Also, I was thinking of game one, and how we should be 4-0, but I am pretty certain we're going to steal some wins in games we should lose this season. There is an evening out.
