Good game, good game. Pause. What the f***??

Stole the words right out of my mouth. Could never have predicted in a million years Sale pitching 6 shutout innings with a 4 run lead. And blow it. Horrible ending to what was a pretty great game from the Sox for 6 innings.

Lester DONE after 3.1 innings vs the Mightily Vaunted Marlins’ lineup.
Schwarber wrecked his strt with his glove. He tried to knock down the wall on a catchable ball that he couldn't put a glove on. Then later, in the same inning i think, he ran by a letting it go to the wall for 3 bases. just awful. he has no business in the OF.

Ok I'm ready to move on but one more needle ....Sale would have a win if he pitched the 8 th would he not ??? Yes folks he would ...This team is in trouble if we are counting on Matt ,Joe and Carson to hand off games when a starter is cruising ...I'm changing my win record to 90 and playing a one game sudden death game to move on .I am serious this team is held together with bubble gum and yard clippings .I knew Joe Kelly was a gagged now We know Carson Smith is equally to that task .

Is it too soon to call him Alex Coma? i don't think so. Being such a big data guy and having all that data at his disposal, I guess that none of it could help Coma from giving away a game in the late innings. Goodness, how did he leave in Kelly the game to give up 3 walks and a double. It was a 4 run lead on opening day with a fresh bullpen. Just unacceptable. There is no justification or rationalization for sticking with him that long. This loss is on Cora. H had better learn how to manage the late innings.

That's rough ...but if rough was scored on a gold silver and bronze we win the gold .

It sucks that Bogey will never learn to hit the breaking ball.

(sarcasm alert)

The jury is still out on this, but we did see some encouraging signs from Bogey in Spring training. S5Dewey and I were at a game where Bogey hit a bomb over the batter's eye in CF and then later in the game on a tough breaking pitch, he stayed with the pitch and was able to pull the ball to the left side for a single. Normally, he would wave helplessly at that pitch. He showed an ability to stay on that pitch at the end of Spring Training. If he can manage not to get eaten alive by the breaking pitch, he could raise the level of his game.

It was a s***** ending but they have 161. If Kelly continues to stink it up he won't be here or pitch at all.

Stunningly bad late inning management.

Yes I know. I saw it. Lester was getting hit hard though.

He threw too many pitches, but he could have salvaged 5 IP with a lead if it hadn't been for Schwarber treating baseballs like they were hand grenades.

I doubt it. He looked horrible regardless.

When it was 2 outs he should have gone to kimbrel. He should taken that idiot kelly out soon as well.

Trade Lester for Porcello.

I’m starting to get over this loss already. It’s one game. Cora needs to get his s*** together. No better time for a Lesson learned, rather him learn it now. The BP need to get their s*** together. Hope that HP ump gets his s*** together because he was downright horrible. Just as bad as Kelly. Look on the bright side, The Rays have peaked. It’s all down hill from here for them. It’s gotta suck to have your best game of the season (with massive help from the umpires) right out of the gate. Whatever, On to game #2.

Have a shitload of fun my friend.

I have always wanted to see a game at The Trop.

I'd be interested in hearing your observations of the place.

The game experience is good, the place gets loud (louder than I thought it would be seeing it on TV), the exterior looks great, it's clean, but they definitely need that new ballpark. The location is iffy and logistically the Trop is a nightmare. After we got to 1st Ave S (the street bordering the Trop to the north) it took about 40 minutes for us to get into the parking lot and to our space, and getting out wasn't much quicker, even though we were much closer to the exit than the entrance. It's dumb. We could have parked at Walmart on 19 and walked over and back in the same amount of time. The concourses are ridiculous, I got up to get a coke right after the Sox were done batting one inning, and got back just in time for them to start batting in the next inning. You have more personal space in your seat than you do walking through the concourse. It's been a while since I've been to Fenway but I don't remember it being this much of clusterf***.

Also, 2012 called. They want their bullpen back.

I made note of Schwarber's butchery somewhere on this board shortly after it happened.

At one or two points I was asking the tv if he had ever played left field at all. Seriously, he seemed like he did not know what to do.

Who was the smart person on Talksox who suggested that the Sox trade for this lug? Yeah, he can have a loud bat.

But he is not a baseball player.

Ugh.

Excellent input. Thanks.

I guess you really can not see any of this stuff on tv.

I'm confused here. Sale was dominant through 6 innings - 92 pitches I think. Barnes pitched the 7th clean. Smith and Kelly s*** the bed. Did you want Sale to pitch the 7th and then go back out for the 8th? That would have put him well over 100 pitches likely! Not happening on the first start of the new season.

He should have got Kelly out earlier for sure, but Kimbrel was predecided to only be used in the 9th and Smith came in as the possible next years closer and he sucked as well. The guys slated to pitch can't be that awful if we are to be competitive. One of us might have come in and done better. What is wrong with these guys?
