Here's just one example of your poor reading comprehension or strawman construction expertise. It has to be one or the other, unless you're just out btrolling.

I go on and on saying how Duda is an average fielder and runner (which is much better than replacement level, I might add) and how his OBP is a big asset to any team, and you counter with this...

"So you agree that he brings nothing to the table during his power outages that a replacement level player would not bring? "

Where do you get this sort of reasoning from? Breibart News?

Then you go on and claim a 1.7 month slump is 2 1/2 months long. (At least you admitted to it being 2 months, later.)

Any data that prove you may be wrong is "irrelevant" or "lacks context". How convenient. Anyone that challenges you and your condescending ways are "snarky" or lacking in the ability to comprehend.

I think calling you a "clown" is being unduly kind.

Even when you are insulting you are long-winded and boring.

You have gone a little overboard with the insults today. For the record, I don't care if I ever convince you or anyone else about any of my positions. They are my opinions based on a combination of observations and statistics. Sometimes I have to rely more on stats when I don't get to see a player very much. Regardless of how I get to my opinion, it is well informed. You have a problem with people disagreeing with you, and you are compelled to prove them wrong. You relentlessly inundate people with statistics because you are under some delusion that stats make your opinion dispositively correct, and you will not stop or accept anything short of full capitulation. It really is obnoxious, not at all conducive to good message board discussion, and usually obnoxious people aren't quite as boring as you are.

You should try working on your reading comprehension and discussion skills. There are cognition issues.

When you have to tell everyone else they don't understand what you're writing, the problem probably isn't everyone else.

Thank you, White Knight. FTR, there are only a couple of posters with that issue. Edited by a700hitter

If it's more than one, it's probably just one...

What we need is some real move by the FO so we can get away from the pettiness.

That may not happen until the Stanton domino falls.

...which is why I'm seldom posting now.

Unfortunately this is the direction the country has taken in the past couple of years with pettiness, character assassination, backbiting and the charge of "fake news" becoming the norm. There seems to have become less room in people's lives for civil discourse and an honest respect for one another's opinions.

Can we stick to the baseball talk and leave the political nonsense out of here?

Otherwise, I will drive to our overlord's house and wrest control of this site from his capitalist hands to install a complete socialist Talksox site where everyone shares post totals and we can all enjoy our misery equally.

Jesus Christ... yeah, we really need some real baseball news to talk about. That is all.

Guess last week was a good time for me to go on vacation and not check Talksox!

If we complete the trade for abreu, is that enough of a bat for us?

Seems like with abreu in Boston and Travis in Pawtucket, first base is covered.

Nope, need to trade for another. Our best offense was with Manny AND Papi. Need to recreate that.

I don't think trying to "recreate" past rosters is the best way to construct a roster.

I agree, getting two power hitter instead of one is better, but there are other ways to win than just bashing the other teams to death.

You know, if something worked before: NEVER DO IT AGAIN!

Well, we did win in 2013 without two bash brothers.

We could try to recreate 2013 by signing Santana (Napoli), Cobb (Dempster) and Nunez (Vic).

Santana and Cobb would be ok, but Nunez and Victorino play differing roles. Nunez would be a super utility guy. Victorino was an anchor in RF.

Also, relying on career years for one more run is a fool's errand.

Travis might be part of the package to get Abreu. Hanley’s shoulder is reportedly fixed. He should be able to spell Abreu at first base.

I'm not sold on Travis until he can hit for power. Trade!

Well, I figured Santana and Cobb were better and higher paid than Naps & Demps, so I lowered Vic to Nunez and a position of need.

For what?

Travis is not exactly one of the most sought after prospects in baseball and his lack of power is no secret. Anyone needing a 1b can find better options in this free agent market. ..

Travis ia ay best a throw-in, and not a very enticing one. Who headlines a deal to get Abreu?

i know that. Bradley would be the headliner, but Travis would be a likely piece who is almost major league ready.

Something similar has reportedly been offered. At least it was Bradley plus. Not sure about Travis. He adds little but Bradley is a good piece.

The big problem for the Sox is Hahn probably won't trade Abreu until he hears the Cardinals offer. And the Cardinals won't make one until Stanton is dealt elsewhere.

But if Stanton goes to the Bay, does a Bradley/Travis offer top a package of Cardinal prospects? They have some good ones....

As part of a larger package. Move him while there is still any value.

I think the CWS are looking at a rebuilding window that looks at least 2 years down the road. I don't think JBJ fits into that model.

I don't think so either.

Trade Groome.

With our track record with drafting and developing SP'ers this might make the most sense.

Use the farm to build up non pitchers and use trades and free agency to stock the staff.
