While I think Cora will manage again, I don't think it will be in Boston. I suspect that some other team will pick him up about 30 seconds after his suspension has officially ended.

My bet is he returns to the Red Sox.

Bring back JF. Demanded respect and at least had class. Other than Tito, who would you rather want?

No more last place finishes.

Can we give Ron Roenicke one week first?

Ron Placeholder.

Hey they removed the “Interim” from his title.

There’s a chance he’s very good. Name one other manager who has had ZERO complaints from fans on April 29!

if this season is scrubbed he may end up like Beltran. a major league manager that never managed a major league game.

Unless you count the 673 games he managed for the Brewers...

I had no issues with Farrell, though I liked him better as a pitching coach.

Tito would be my first choice, Cora my second.

Roenicke was the right choice for the Sox under the circumstances. They had little time to search for a replacement, Roenicke knows the players and there is a sense of continuity and comfort between players and manager, and it was unknown what the outcome of the sign stealing scandal would be.

It will now be easy to bring Cora back if that's what the Sox choose to do.

I will be surprised if the Sox fire or demote Roenicke merely to bring Cora back. I suspect that Cora will have other more attractive opportunities than Boston. I suspect he will be able to pick and choose among several offers some with better money than Boston.

If Boston wants him, Boston will have him.

If Boston wants him, they also could have just let him serve his suspension rather than firing him prior to any investigation of their own team...

Yes, they could have. But he was mentioned 6 or 7 times in Manfred's report and there was a black cloud over him.

They were being proactive and distancing themselves in case something showed up in the BOS investigation. When Cora was cleared, I bet they figured it'd be ok to bring him back at some point. It was a purely PR motivated move.

You hit it right on. If I am Cora why would I automatically go back to Boston. I am sure there will be other clubs out there that would be far more attractive to him than Boston. Now that Cora has a World Series win to his resume and a clean bill of health regarding his 2018 title, he is in the cat bird's seat. I am sure it is not lost on him how quickly Henry goes south on title winning skippers. No I wouldn' t think Cora will be too excited to.coming back to Boston. unless they literally outbid every other Club wanting his services.

Cora has the goodwill of fans here. If he goes elsewhere, they'll see him as a HOU guy.

If the Red Sox want Cora back, they certainly won't lowball him on money.

Send this one back to the drawing board. Another swing and a miss.

You have swung and missed more times than anyone on this board.

Probably since I've been up to bat way more than you. I also am constantly swinging for the fences. I'm no punch and judy hitter.

No but you have a Rich Gedman/ Ron Hriniak swing.

Why because it shows that Henry and Company will lowball anyone at any time or any place.

Apples and oranges. Cora's salary is a relative drop in the bucket and doesn't count for luxury tax purposes. The only question is whether they have mutual interest in a reunion.
