  1. Plus, if he’d played in New York he would have been considered a real all-time great which he was. I’m so old that I saw him play toward the end of the ‘54 season when he had just signed as a “Bonus Baby”. My dad and I always watched pregame practice and I noticed this new kid shagging fly. He was as graceful as anyone I saw. I liked him ever since. A truly nice guy and a GREAY ball player. RIP Mr. Tiger.
  2. Bring back JF. Demanded respect and at least had class. Other than Tito, who would you rather want?
  3. MLB has to err on the side of over-protection so, yes, I would guess kiss this season goodbye.
  4. Baseball is still the greatest game man invented. You can be fast/slow, strong/weak, short/tall, thin/fat, etc. People in today’s culture want blood & guts but football is on the down slide. Most round ball stars are very tall compared to the average guy. There was nothing like going to a big league game and seeing that luscious green grass in April and then get home and have a make-believe game against the front door steps afterwards!
  5. You don’t want Allen lost 3-4 miles off fastball. Guardians fans had to sweat every game he entered. Made no effort to re-sign him.
  6. I do not believe the commissioner or MLB has the legal right to make a team change it's logo or name.
  7. [quote=mvp 78;1037545 Atlanta didn't have much of an issue with dumping Noc-A-Homa when they needed to. Maybe it's time Cleveland does the same. Who owned the Braves? Ted Turner? hmmmm.
  8. Being a traditionalist, 154 games make more sense. There probably can be more evenly divided than by a divisor of 162. Of course, if the owners have to give up revenue with the loss of 8 games.... Weather too cold in April in northern cities.
  9. Too bad. A really good guy.
  10. Hats off to the Tribe.
  11. I know they wore NO stripes (or piping) when the won the pennant in '67.
  12. They need to bring back the red, white and blue socks rather than the all red. That looks crappy and too much like the Cincinnati Reds!
  13. There ya go. Sorry.
  14. How will Tito and the Tribe do this year?
  15. This is probably going to help the Yankees to get back into buying any player they want as this will free up $25 million I believe. The rest of the MLB will suffer if the Yankees get out from under the contract. I can see why Bud Selig wants to come down on the players but this is a case of therefore helping the ball club.
  16. Yep, the Guardians got hosed by the ump frankly most of the day. Is this guy a rookie ump?
  17. I don't think one could ever meet a finer ball player and person all rolled into one. May God bless this fine man and his family. I'll always wonder how high he would have been ranked had he played for the Yankees.
  18. Swisher hit MORE home runs last year AWAY from Yankee Stadium so your premise is bunk.
  19. Regardless, I'll take Swisher.
  20. Uh, Boston has been known to pay ridiculous amounts, no? The Guardians finally are opening their wallets and he wants to come home. I think it was his FIRST choice, btw.
  21. Good for the Guardians!!
  22. I look for Swisher to sign with Cleveland.
  23. I hear ya! lol!!
