So this loser would accept a trade to the Yankees but not the sox? What's his beef with playing in boston? I can't stand this self absorbed prick!

Does he see more personal opportunity in new York than in Boston?

I wouldn't go overboard with this stuff until something is confirmed. The rumors and speculation seem to change by the day (before today there wasn't any indication he wanted to go to New York, or anywhere besides the west coast, really), and I'm not convinced anyone truly knows what's going on.

I don't think I've read anything about Stanton specifically objecting to Boston, and if New York can re-enter the talks after being previously presumed out of it, I would guess there's at least some chance we could as well...but that's just speculation on my part. All of the hurdles that made it a long shot to begin with would still remain, of course.

He wouldn't get that in Boston? Sox ain't chopped liver. It's still a decent market.

LA and NYY are the two biggest markets in the world. Boston isn't really close to that and doesn't have the same opportunities.

California state tax rates are very high topping out slightly over 13% whereas in Mass the rate is around 5.1%. He would get a nice financial boost just avoiding California's taxes.

The Cardinals have announced that they have been informed that Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton will not waive his no-trade clause to approve a deal to St. Louis. Miami had put deals in place with both the Cards and the Giants, allowing Stanton to speak with both. It’s not certain at present whether a final decision has been issued with regard to the San Francisco organization..

Did he not like what happened during negotiations?

Weird. Why not say "no" to STL before all the wooing?

If I were the giants I would immediately reduce the package I was offering Miami.

If I were the Dodgers I would offer Miami a bag of used baseballs and a couple broken bats for Stanton,

If jeter wants out of that contract teams on the west coast need to make it painful!

The Giants announced they are out on Stanton as well...hoo boy, this could get interesting. I hope DD is on the phone with Jeter making one more push as we speak.

Why is he self absorbed? Because he doesn't want to play in Boston?

His price just dropped dramatically. Jeter must be furious. :D

Sure, but it’s his hometown.

Jeter could follow through on his threat to trade everyone else and leave Stanton with a shell around him.

That would be great, then Stanton would have to settle on the lowly Sox as the only team left. (LOL)

It should be noted that Miami already dealt Dee Gordon, so maybe keeping Stanton could happen.

It is never surprising when an athlete in any sport wants to play in New York. New York is the most famous city in the world. It is the business capital of the world. The financial capital of the world. The advertising capital of the world. And ( outside of Hollywood ) the entertainment capital of the world. The money , fame and opportunities there are unmatched anywhere. We don't have to like it , but it is the reality.

And how many head to heads have the Pats won vs. NY?

Oh come on. Giants pedigree doesn't match the Patriots. Not any more. 25 years ago, there would be no question. Giants are an all time great franchise, but the Patriots are a machine. Theyve been that way since Bill Parcells (minus a 2 year hiccup with that moron Pete Carroll).

You won those two games with a lot of lucky fluke plays. Its fine, a win is a win, and for a long time those wins bothered me, until we won 2 more since.....I'd rather be 7-0 in the Brady/BB era, but 5-2 isnt bad either.

The Dodgers could send puig and jock Pederson to Miami for Stanton.

I thought about that too. But no way in HELL does Miami want to be the sight of a Puig-Mattingly reunion

How many post season series did you win last year?

Do we get to count Celtics' series? We'll let you count the Knicks. And the Nets...

Ugh, what an ugly trade that would be. They can hardly keep him motivated while playing on a top 5 MLB team.

Imagine his production playing for the worst team in baseball.
