I figure a thread will be started for this sooner or later, so I'll get the ball rolling. See below article:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/05/sports/baseball/boston-red-sox-stealing-signs-yankees.html?smid=tw-nytsports&smtyp=cur

In summation, the Red Sox were accused by the Yankees of using Apple watches to steal signs from the catcher. The supposed order of operations was that a trainer or someone with a view of the catcher's signs would relay the signs to someone in the dugout via Apple watch, and then the person in the dugout would relay it to the player. Seems like a lot to do in a short amount of time.. but let's see if anything comes out of this besides a big distraction or if this becomes the next -gate.. probably Applegate.

Any way... MLB should step in and void the contracts of those cheaters: Young, Holt and Pedroia!

And Ellsbury.

Deflated balls and apple watches. Lol

This is going to be punished heavily. Using electronics to steal signs is clearly cheating. They'll lose a draft pick most likely and be fined heavily

Maybe they can tie Belichich into this. He probably advised the Red Sox coaches on the latest methodology. Seriously, if they are stealing signs, it isn't helping the hitters much.

I hear that Pablo orchestrated the whole thing from San Francisco.

What a surprise that a Yankee fan would start the thread, especially since it's already being discussed elsewhere...

You mentioned it first. You had a chance to make the thread and did not.

The Yankee fan is right. It will be discussed and is thread worthy.

So, to recap: we have an offense full of holes, a Sale who suddenly looks mortal, and now this s*** -- another distraction for a team that doesn't need any. I wonder if Farrell can see the vultures circling...

I assume that when a team is caught stealing signs by electronic means, that team was not first to do it, but felt it had to equalize the competition. There are many ways of adding technical eyes to base runner eyes, and I'm sure each team has at least entertained the possibility, or experimented with one or more of these techniques. The real question is: How do you stop ALL TEAMS from doing so? That would be the fair thing, but it may not be possible, so that certain teams will be picked off now and then to serve as an object lesson. God, if a viewer can see the damn signs, why can't teams learn to relay those same signs??

I wonder whose brilliant idea this is? Who's the leader behind this?

Seriously......... whoever did this is a total moron......

The bigger problem is for JF, if he didn't know it was happening he's not having control of the clubhouse and if he knew it, he's a cheater

lose-lose sutuation for him

Some team had to be the pioneer in stealing signs by electronic means. Perhaps a team under great pressure to win ... perhaps not.

I hope all allegations are thoroughly investigated and appropriate sanctions levied.

Pedroia. He was antsy sitting on the bench and wanted to impact the team.

Fire Farrell

DFA Buchholz

Trade Pedroia

If baseball was so dead set against "stealing signals" they would have fit the catcher and pitcher with headsets much like NFL QBs and defensive captains.

Then there would be no signals to be seen.

The whole subject is f***ing dumb. It reflects poorly on baseball that this is even an issue.

Just the same, if the Sox have cheated then those responsible should be suspended for the remainder of the season. That means Farrell because he was in charge. And any co-conspirators.

f***-em.

I guess I don't completely understand what happened. I was under the impression that the Sox were (allegedly) picking up a video feed on their Apple watches and then communicating what they saw to the hitters.

My questions are these:

I watch the games on television and very seldom see the catcher's signals. Even when we see the game from the CF camera the catcher's signals can't be seen. So where is the feed coming from that was being picked up on the watch? Was there (allegedly) a second camera set up in CF specifically for this purpose?

How was this information transmitted to the hitters at the plate? Did it come from the runner on 2B? And if so, how did this runner get the information?

Yeah you are not alone in not understanding this hugely successful cheating scheme.
