Nobody but the principals involved knows what went on behind the scene in 2011. When you have a collapse like that, especially in Boston, it's inevitable that fingers are going to be pointed.

It was a 'country club' in 2004 and in 2007 and in every other year that Tito managed the Sox. That's the way Tito ran the ship.

Perhaps it was a little more so in 2011 due to Francona's personal issues, but the point stands that the whole idea, starting with Chicken and Beer, was overblown. The only difference with the clubhouse in 2011 and all the other years was the collapse in 2011, which was due to our pitching, not due to Francona losing the clubhouse. Had we made it to the playoffs that year, nothing would have been said.

Not a coincidence that the pitching collapsed and pitchers were the ones involved in "Chicken & Beer".

We had players undermining management on other player's cell phones.

It was out of control, and to me, that was part of the reason there was a collapse. Nobody seemed to care about losing (and winning).Once it started spinning out of control, Tito seemed to just sit passively. I realize that strategy worked in 2004 and 2007, but Tito was unable to adjust to what happened in 2011. He had good reasons to be distracted, but nevertheless, he was distracted and it cost the team dearly. It cost him his job.

As mush as I respected Tito, and I really did and still do, bringing him back in 2012 was just not an option.

The whole Bobby V thing is a separate issue.

That's all very true, but so is the old adage that "You can't fire all 25 players". Like it or not, sometimes that's why the manager goes.

Exactly. Furthermore, I don't much care whether it's the players fault. You lose, you're gone unless management has compelling reasons to keep you. I think that's fair.

Heads up for anyone who hasn't heard - Tonight's game is starting at 7:38 instead of 8:08 to accommodate the Yankees travel schedule.

The whole league centers around the Yanks.

No wonder every non Yankee fan hates them.

Kind of like how people from other parts of the country view our Patriots, Red Sox, and very soon again CELTICS. A little bit of a head scratcher though since the Yanks really are not that good. lol
