So the two complete game winners we have are from Fister and Johnson.

Somebody once said, baseball is such a random game ;)

Fister went all the way, what were the odds? 1 million to 1? hahaha
Did your algorithm predict a complete game one hitter without any hits surrendered after the first batter?

Hahaha no compadre, but I guess it's one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in baseball ....and don't forget that the first hit was a HR.

WOW!

Fister- 1 hitter

Devers goes 0 for 5 and still has an OPS above 1.000.

4 guys with 2 hits. JBJ and Bogey are showing signs of coming around.

7 guys with a run or an RBI- many pitching in.

Bull pen rested.

Gotta feel good!

Yep, it started very poorly.

There once was a pitcher named Fister

The Guardians didn't like that Mister

They got a home run

Said 'This game is done!"

After nine they could not have been pissed-er.

Not bad...I knew someone could come up with a good limerick.

I'm impressed that it didn't involve a "sister".

I was working on a naughty one with 'sister' in it, but maybe it's not such a good idea.

I'm sure it wont be at all offensive!

Hanley hasn't been good, but RBIs are such a random stat and don't really tell you much. Pujols has been one of the shittiest guys in league this year (-1.7 WAR, .650 OPS, etc) and has 75 RBI.

RBIs are largely a product of the team. While they are not useless, there are so many better ways to assess a hitter.

Mookie has more RBIs than Hanley, but Mookie also has had more runners on base than Hanley (306 to 299), and more plate appearances (563 to 443). Counting the batter himself as an RBI opportunity, that is 869 chances as opposed to 742 chances.

That's not the best way to look at things either, but I think that shows why just looking at sheer RBI numbers is not very telling.

FTR, Mookie has batted in 18.954% of other batters, while Hanley has batted in 10.033% of other batters. Mookie has obviously been better at getting other batters in.

It still kills me you only get the home teams announcers....... it goes to show you that two humans can see the exact same thing and come up with totally different conclusions of what happened.

There is inherent bias in what we see. As humans, we cannot help or prevent that to some degree, no matter how objective we think we are. I am telling you, man cannot live by the eye test alone.

I actually don't mind it. these guys aren't bad, but every announcer has some homerism in them and it REALLY came out that inning lol. But they seem pretty cool/unbiased. Its kinda cool to hear what other guys have to say about our players. They are really impressed with most our young guys, especially Devers and Mookie.

I always prefer the NESN telecast because if we're losing, the opposing announcers become extremely annoying to me. That said, the Guardians crew was not bad last night. They were very complimentary about Fister.

I hear ya. MLB.tv switched two years ago and you can listen to either broadcast. I always go with the Sox cast now, but somewhat miss hearing the other announcers, you get a different perspective and they are knowledgeable about their players. Ofcourse you sometimes get the Homers that think every player on their team is a future all star.

Everyone..... EVERYONE would take our younger players over what they have. You should hear these Ranger fans I talk to. If I even complain a little bit, they tell me to shut up and tell me they would switch teams in a heartbeat.

Red Sox fans have had it very good since Henry and company took over. Fans of most other teams would kill to be in our shoes.

Fister has been magnificent, who would say?

Fister came up huge. HUGE! A one hit, complete game! Wow! On paper, the odds didn't favor us.

On the mound, Fister is no nonsense. He gets the ball and pitches with conviction, like Sale does. Good stuff.

It was very much a 'Thanks Dave' night courtesy of Fister and Nunez.

Yes, it was. I thought they were both good moves in terms of providing depth, but both players have come up bigger than just 'depth', especially in light of the injuries to Price and Pedroia.

Thanks Dave!
