Have you factored in the $$$ of my original proposal which entailed acquiring a $295M contract (Stanton) while dumping $240M in contracts (Price, Ramirez, Castillo).

Sorry, but none of your posts in this thread have addressed the fact that the tight wad Marlins will want nothing to do with any of those guys and their salaries. Their goal in trading Stanton would be to get rid of his contract, not to help the Red Sox balance their books and avoid the luxury tax.

Either he's trolling, or he genuinely doesn't understand the concept of mutual consent in a baseball trade.

Yes, because saving just a little money by picking up 3 stiffs for one mega star is not the reason Miami would ever trade GS.

They'd want 4-5 players- each with 4-6 years of team control and relatively high ceilings.

Including the 3 bums mentioned would mean we'd have to offer 8-10 more prospects plus cash just for them to take them off our hands.

Miami won't take that bunch of stiffs off our hands, but maybe DD should give the Dodgers a call?

Deja-vu in reverse:

Price, HRam & Castillo

for ...

(drum roll.....)

Adrian Gonzalez ($21.5M for 2018 remaining)

The Dodgers can just give the difference to Yu Darvish.

It's a joke- just like the original suggested deal- though one may have been unintended.

Gonzalez sucks but id deal with 1 year of him to get rid of hanley and price

I'd trade Price or HRam for AGon, but the Dodgers wouldn't.

Im not giving up what it would cost to get him...no way no how...we have an amazing core of players and theres no need to ruin that....

Damnit. I was really hoping for the latter. You right, you right. ;)

This would be the stupidest Trade the Sox could make, here's why. To make a Trade like this you need Depth in the Minors, for both Positional and Pitching, Sox have a weak system for Pitching.

He should put up huge numbers in Fenway, so good chance he Opts out in 2020.

In 2020, Sale is up after his Options, and Porcello is up too. Hopefully Price is gone but I doubt it.

The next year, this team would be hurting. The amount of money to produce a real contender would be huge.

Trades for the next few years, for good players, will essentially, Take what's left in the Minors.

One player, could hurt this team for years.

1st Base this Off-Season, in FA is the move. Don't complicate things, the kids we have can do the job.

Shiney hood ornament you don't need.

i was at CitiField yesterday for Marlins v Mets. the kid is a monster. would definitely speak to the new ownership once it is in place about what it would take to get him this offseason.

I was GM of the Marlins I want cost controlled players 1st. So it starts with Devers and Bennintendi, or I'm hanging up on you. That Option for 2020, is the problem not to move on him.

Even if we take the whole salary up to 2020, I want cost controlled players. Your building a team. Call the Dodgers, call the Yanks, see what they might offer.

Devers AND Benintendi? If you're the Marlins GM, you'll be out of a job quickly as that trade would never ever get done.

Shiny hood ornament that could lead to many shiny championship rings and trophies. Look, I get it, it's a virtual pipe dream considering the cost and where this team is at with their budget and dwindling farm system. But this is fun....

Forget trading Hanley, he's fine at 1B. Forget trading Price or Castillo, they'd be non-starters. I'd start with XB and trade everyone practically not named Groome out of our farm. Probably. How 'bout: Xander, Chavis, Travis, 1 of Mata, Houck, Beeks and see what Miami had to say. It'd probably be a "no". I'm not delusional, but that's what I'd start with for an initial conversation. Then throw in Swihart and another 2 of our top 21.

Who plays SS then?

Is Stanton being moved to DH? Why spend $30M on a DH?

Instead of Stanton, maybe just hold off and sign Harper or Trout?

On Line #1, I'd be talking with Miami about Stanton. On Line #2, I'd be talking back-up plan with Miami about XB for Bour. On Line #3, I'd be talking with Detriot about a certain Defensive - capable SS. On Line #4, I'd have our very own StephenCurry on the line because I'd need some celebratory head after the deals were done and I hear he's real good at that. ;)

count me in.

X-Bo current WAR of 1.0 (BR) does not mean he is irreplaceable. personally i dont even think we would need to include anyone on our current MLB roster to get a deal done. so the "who plays SS" debate need not apply.

we can have Stanton on our team. it will completely gut our Farm but it pretty much is already. he would lengthen our "window".

To play DH?

Of course not. That would be ridiculous. No, I'd play him in LF about 14 times a year. :o

We're currently 27th in the League in HRs. Would it be THAT wrong?

BTW, just busting StephenCurry's balls a bit. Had me cracking up the other day catching-up on some posts threads.

Cabrera in his prime was a way, way better hitter than Stanton, and was on a good Tigers team, and he didn't make the difference. Don't understand why many don't trust our kids. Edited by OH FOY!

Beni has faced 15 LH'd SPs this season and is batting .171/231/.214/.445 against them. Stanton w/ 25 games vs LH'd SP 2017: .278/.358/.701/1.059 I don't know right now how many LH'd SPs we'll face next season, but sitting Beni vs. all of them sounds good to me.
