Hopefully, Girardi will continue to pull his starters early and burn out the pen.

We can sweep them with a healthy, rested pen! Have confidence, Kimmi!

Bone-headed running by Beni, trying to score from 2d on an error at 1b. When will he learn you cannot be aggressive on the basepaths?

That is the thing. We like to point out all the outs made on the bases, which are numerous, but we tend to forget about the runs we are able to score because of that same aggressiveness.

I figure as long as this offense can put at least 4 or 5 runs on the board Porcello is a ok by me. Guy has been pretty solid most of the year. However when he goes to s*** generally in the 6th or 7th he goes downhill fast.

He had a rough patch early on, but he has been solid lately, except for the last start. He appears to be trending in the right direction.

There's good aggressiveness and then there's dumb "we don't know how to run the bases" aggressiveness. Was JBJ's blunder due to aggressiveness or due to bad coaching? How about Benny not being able to tag at 2nd on the fly to RF? Boggs called him out on it and was right to do so. That wasn't aggressive? It seems more like "haphazard" running of the bases rather than aggressive running of the bases.

I do not disagree with any of that. There is a difference between good aggressiveness and bad aggressiveness, and there's a difference between good aggressiveness and stupidity or mental lapses.

That said, I don't know how many times players and Butterfield have been called out for taking a decent chance (good aggressiveness) when the runner is out. And yet, when a run scores due to aggressive baserunning, no credit is given.

Yes, we need to cut down on the blunders. But for all of the angst over our baserunning, we are still in the positive in both UBR and wSB.

exactly the point - there is aggressive baserunning and then there are stupid baserunning mistakes. I really don't see too many posts that are critical of aggressive baselining even though you are bound to run into some outs. This team does not hit well enough to not be aggressive on the base paths. Aggressive vs stupid - big difference. What we have not seen much of is praise for these guys getting out and stealing some bases. They have the speed and the ability to manufacture some runs. They need to continue to do it.

I think my issue is more with the constant mental lapses than a guy getting thrown out by 3 feet. They noted on the telecast last night that Amaro is in charge of baserunning practice and procedures. I think they can do better at 1b next year.

Hanley trying to stretch everything into a double is dumb as his speed isn't a strength. However, if X, Mookie, JBJ and Benny are given the green light to run crazy, I'm ok with it.

Stupid baserunning has been a staple of Farrell teams since he became a manager. There seems to be a fundamental problem there. Other than that, I am content with his work.

Amen.

Good to see you post.

Is there any fanfare in the DR associated with Devers and his promotion?

Hey Thumder! How ya doin'?

Doing pretty well. Had a busy summer, the reason I've been in and out of this place. Getting ready, and absolutely cannot wait to leave for college in two weeks
