That was to get Nunez on the 40 man. The Marrero move was to get him on the 25 man roster.

Yes, I know. I posted it on another thread.

I think Dombrowski will pull something off between now and the deadline. I don't know what that will be, but I don't see him doing nothing. Maybe the additions of Nunez and Devers will get the offense going. We can hope anyway.

I have not yet heard what roster move is being made to make room for Nunez on the 25. I'm guessing Marrero.

This has been an extremely frustrating season. The team needs to get it going.

I just checked the official roster and no change has been made to it as yet and of course Nunez plays tonight. I guess the Sox are just slow to do an update.

I think I'd rather wait until the end-of-the-season results are known, before making any roster moves.

Yeah, I love what Nunez has done for us and I hope it continues. But it won't. Will Nunez be better than Holt? Probably.

But we really need to get through this season first.

Exactly.

Let me tell you what an expert I am. I was confident that the acquisition of Nunez was a desperation move that would have zero value. This is why I read but avoid engaging in discussions about players on other teams--with a few exceptions of course.

So far Nunez has impressed me with his ability to hit what the pitcher serves up, whatever it is. He is a smart batter who is hard to fool.

Nunez is there to swing the bat - so far it has been good. His versatility is super helpful - he is kind of poor defensively wherever he plays, but as a supersub, it's fine.

If Nunez stays hot he might get a respectable little payday out of his 2017 numbers.

True. Good time to have a career year.

He has had a decent OPS+ recently, and that will play into a nice payday as well

2015: 107 OPS+

2016: 103

2017: 115 (98 w SFG/ 224 w BOS)

I think we need to keep Nunez hitting lead off. His presence atop the order adds an element we have not had all year.

Moving Betts to the 3/4 slot adds another element.

Not really, Nunez is more suited in the 3-4 hole for this team. His primarily asset is his ability to hit the ball to all field and he hits all pitches in many locations. With Devers back, I want them to hit back to back. Slide Benni into the lead off, with Betts to follow. Pedroia bats behind Devers (5th). We finally added much needed offense with Nunez + Devers, they are best to hit as middle order.

I'm willing to ride the Nunez wagon for as long as possible, but let's not get carried away.

I agree that Nunez and Devers should bat in the top 5 slots until (or if they ever) they slow down.

Beni is hot.

Betts needs to stay top 5 no matter what.

It's hard to judge Pedey now, but he was doing great before the DL.

Nunez was hitting very well in SanFran too. Let's keep him where he would do most damage, and leading off is not that.

He was very hot with SF before the trade (.998 in July and .948 in June).

He started slow, so his overall SFG OPS was just .752 OPS.

Ride the wave!
