In other words, the team won in spite of Maddon.

I don't like Maddon. I don't tend to like people that appear to be like him - self important. Once again though, I don't know him. His players seem to like him and play hard for him. The group that hired him in Chicago have on occasion proven that they know what they are doing also. He might be one of those guys that we would love if he was on our side.

That's the only reason I think Maddon is a great manager. Everything else he does is awful, but his players are always ready to play.

Maddon is one of the trifecta of self-important micro managers. I do not support him.
I think he is overrated and he is annoying because he obviously believes his own press clippings.

Maddon blundered his way through the World Series, got outmanaged at every turn, and still managed to pull victory from the grasp of stupidity.
I like that "pulled victory from the grasp of stupidity." I will give you credit for it when I use it.

He could never beat the dog out of B.J. Upton. He never played hard for him. That is on B.J. not Maddon. Longo was going to choke him in the dugout one time. I don't put much stock in the "players' manager" thing.

I have posted before that I think he was the right guy for job, but because of the clubhouse management, not the in game management.

You know any RP the Sox pick up before the trade deadline is already hurt and will not be able to pitch for the Sox.

I'll accept this from a Sox fan. but if you're a yankees fan posting on a Red Sox forum go inject yourself with steroids and pound rocks.

Besides Zeigler (& Abad), it does seem that way. Mybe the trick is to give up less with our next trade for a reliever?
