f***. The one day this week I was able to get out and run some errands and I miss all the fireworks.

17-6. Oh my Gawd.

Dammit! I wanted Deven Marrero to get the 2nd and 3rd out of an inning without hitting into a double play! (I wonder if that's ever happened?)

Think of Marrero as Ensign Pulver (Jack Lemmon) in the movie Mr. Roberts. You think he isn't doing anything, but he is actually saving up all those hits for when they will really do some good. Just like Pulver and the marbles.

It's odd how Sale absolutely dominated the Twins in the first 4 innings. At this point, I'm feeling positive that 4 runs will be more than enough. Then he has a questionable HBP, a bloop single, and a sac bunt that can't be fielded and turns into a hit, and the wheels seemingly come off, with Sale throwing 36 pitches that inning. Then, he goes back out in the 6th and sets the side down in order in pretty quick fashion. Go figure.

Anyway, nice win today and nice series win. It's good to see the offense finally doing some damage.

The 2 best ERA pitchers face off against each other and 23 runs are scored. You can't figure out this game.

He wasn't getting creamed. Sale alloew 3 soft hits that inning.

He had Sano struck out too and ump missed it.

When a pitcher is out there for 25 pitches or more, fatigue is a factor. They're like a boxer on the ropes trying to make it through the round.

These teams on top are giving this team no room for losses. They need to keep winning.

I believe you are worrying too much about the Yankees and the Os. They are likely not going to go away, though I do think that both teams are playing over their heads. The division was never going to be a cake walk. It will be a battle all season long.

The Sox just need to play like they are capable of playing and take care of their own business.

Well that's my point. They gotta win consistently. Those other two teams have been doing that!

True enough on both posts.

I know I am posting this in hindsight, but I'm glad that Farrell allowed Sale to go back out for the 6th inning. Sale is a competitor, and I'm sure that he really wanted to go back out there. Sale does not seem like the type who needs a boost of confidence, but even so, I think it's good that he was able to retire the side in order and end his the game on a high note. Five days is a long time to stew over something like that 5th inning.

Eff those other two teams. I can't stand either one of them.

The Sox need to worry about the Sox, not those other 2 teams. It's too early for scoreboard watching.

Yup!

Coming into this series the most runs the Sox had scored in a game was 8. In the last 2 games they scored at least 8 runs in an inning twice.

A key point. We don't know if the Sox have turned a corner scoring runs, but that's a very good sign. Interesting that Farrell's 1st, 3d, and 4th hitters are the three B's, but not in the order one would expect. Bogaerts with no dingers but the best OBP on the team, is batting 3d.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but our home run numbers are suddenly not looking so bad.

Our lack of home runs in the first 3 weeks or so was one of those fluky things.

Would be great if Xander joins the party.

They hit a lot more HR away than at home. Fenway is not a HR park.

Ya. Mookie hit a HR yesterday that would have been a single @ Fenway.

Actually sox are tied for last in the AL in HR, even after the recent streak

Yeah it takes more than 2 games to pull our power numbers out of the toilet.

For whatever reason Fenway has been viewed as a Homer park by many. Maybe because of the wall making HR so dramatic.

In reality I believe it is really more of a doubles park.

The wall given and the wall taketh away.

I have no stats to support my idea. Just how I see it.

Yes, it's been established that Fenway is much more a doubles park than a home run park. A right-handed power hitter whose home runs tend to be of the high fly ball variety will have fun with the wall, of course.

Bell, do not let Jacko rain on our parade.

Through April 22nd, we stunk. We hit 8 HRs in 18 games, had a slugging % of .374 and an OPS of .712.

In our last 13 games, we have hit 19 HRs, slugged .465, and had an OPS of .812. Even without the last 2 games, we have hit 11 HRs in 11 games. The home runs are starting to come.
