I would not send him back out for the 6th inning if he gets out of the 5th. Too many high leverage pitches in the 5th.

No doubt about it.. I'd go with Hembree, but if they take the lead Farrell might leave him in there.

I agree... Meaning Sale will be out there for the 6th!

screwed by Leon--no surprise--and screwed by the ump. The pitch before the 2 run single was a strike, uncalled.

I would send out there in a heartbeat. He pitched well in the 5th but the Twins got lucky. 98 pitches is nothing for him.

You guys need to listen to ol' Max more often. Sale is 10 times the pitcher Hembree will ever hope to be.
We know that, but Sale is also the most valuable piece of property on the roster. I wouldn't have sent him out there at 98 pitches and so many thrown in the 5 th inning.

Edit: I was more worried about Sale than the game which is going to come down to the pens anyway.

Everybody noticed Santana give up the 2 run dinger in the 6th, which prompted the subconscious conclusion that Sale would do the same.

Actually, a very good point I have to admit.

That wasn't it at all. What entered into my thinking wasthat Sale worked very hard in the 5th -- made a lot of pitches and was right around the hundred mark. The game is coming down to the pens anyway. The extra inning from Sale didn't mean much to me when we need 3 from the pen anyway.

Friday night bullpen blew a tie game. Now, thanks to Sale and Leon, they have a 2 run lead to preserve. I like that better. Plus Sale only threw 108 pitches.

No, we mentioned that Sale should't come out well before that. Sale looked done, he was struggling with control, threw a lot of high stress pitches and was visibly upset with the umpire, usually a guy at that point is done and Farrell has a bad habit of trying to force another inning out of a pitcher who struggled his last inning (Steven Wright vs Cubs, E-Rod vs Twins, etc).

We need 3 innings from the pen today.
