Pedroia probably gets bullied by the Sullivan Tire kids.

Pedroia messed up but I don't get knocking him for sitting out. He's never been known as a guy who likes to sit.

Only sits on Machado's lap, too scared of Santa.

I didn't even want Abad on the team, so I'm with you 100%.

I was just stating what I felt the reason was for keeping him around.

Another reason could be the uncertainty surrounding Ross- the other lefty.

BTW, when Thorburg returns, we'll have our best RP'er vs LHBs on the 25 man roster. His reverse splits are mind-boggling.

You never know what you're going to get from relief pitchers. Abad might have been lights out this season, for all we knew during spring training. You keep as much depth as possible until you get a better feel of how things are going to shake out.

Not criticizing him for sitting out. I'm just pointing out the irony. A grown man wants love from an opponent that's going to put him on bench but throws his teammate under the bus. I will never forget it. "it's not me, it's them" cries our 2nd baseman....them are the Sox.

Agree. He sat out with soreness and wet field. The other parts don't match up. But IMO if he does come back he will end up back on a maybe 10 day DL STINT. imo

Well, maybe someday you'll be able to have a nice Pedroia in a bikini avatar.

We'd have plenty of "cap space" to replace Pom, and maybe Marco (Holt) could help us avoid needing a new 2Bman.

Pedroia is a veteran who has given a great deal of good years to this team. He still will be a good 2nd baseman this year. Lets not throw him under the bus because of his reaction to the error made by his own team mate.

He's already been run over by the bus. Now, we're just deciding if we should put it in reverse and run over him again.

1) I said I was kidding.

2) I'd never trade someone because of something like this. I don't even see it as a big deal.

3) I'll trade anyone for a better return.

How about just parking on top of him with an 18 wheeler?

He's too little. He'd just slip through the treads.

Red Sox Claim Chase d’Arnaud

By Jeff Todd | April 27, 2017 at 12:52pm CDT

The Red Sox have claimed infielder Chase d’Arnaud off waivers from the Braves, per a club announcement. He had been designated for assignment and, evidently, placed on outright waivers by Atlanta.

To clear 40-man space, Boston bumped righty Carson Smith to the 60-day DL. He is still recovering from Tommy John surgery, and it wouldn’t seem as if the placement says much about any changes to his timeline to return.

The 30-year-old d’Arnaud represents a utility option for the Sox, who are struggling to cover with third baseman Pablo Sandoval on the DL and second bagger Dustin Pedroia also ailing. Over 262 career trips to the plate at the game’s highest level, d’Arnaud owns only a .245/.317/.335 batting line.

d’Arnaud was asked about the Red Sox picking him up and he responded: "it's not me, it's them"

he'll fit right in......
