It is a matter of personal perspective as to whether or not lots of hits providing few if any runs is good or bad offense. in my way of looking at things if you are repetetively getting men on base but not getting them to home plate, then your offense certainly lacks something. We are lacking in the most important stat of all because we are not scoring enough runs. Bad offense.

Because stat heads come off as boorish wet blankets who can't let anything go and have the personality of a swamp monster.

"Wow, great sac bunt there."

"Well, here's a million reasons you're wrong! Sacrifice bunts are the worst blah blah blah blah blah blah blah insert s***** table blah blah blah blah."

If you're unable to allow others a moment of joy because you are all consumed by stats, it probably means you aren't enjoying that moment either.

Seriously, if your example is that your exuberance was quashed when you attempted to cheer for a sac bunt - easily one of the least exciting plays in baseball - I'm not so sure your argument was all that well thought out...

Having an OPS+ of 98 does not suggest a good offense. It suggests an average one at the very best.

Our power numbers stink, which is a good part of why our OPS+ is mediocre. Some of our other offensive numbers have dropped recently, but we are still getting runners on base at a decent clip. There is still a disconnect between our OBP and our runs scored.
