Another lefty starter, Snell, with a low ERA. Is Young back?

Someone else said the Sox are 5-2 so far on what could have been the road trip from hell. If the Sox can take 3 of 4, this will indeed have been a defining road trip and a great recovery.

Despite yesterday's semi-debacle, the Sox are right behind Tampa in team ERA. But, as always, the key factor--to me, anyway--is whether our great lineup is great against a good pitcher (especially a lefty).

If someone else starts a game thread on this game, I'm fine with that. I just couldn't wait.

Snell won't go deep into this game. If he pitches well, the Sox will have at least 3 innings to go against their bullpen.

Despite the low ERA, Snell allows a lot of base runners. I don't remember the exact number, but his WHIP is not good. The offense needs to find a way to not squander their opportunities when they get some runners on base.

Did you just split an infinitive? Yes, indeed, the guys need to avoid the squandering syndrome. Yesterday, on the other hand, the Tigers had 10 hits and 10 runs--helped in no small measure by Owens's propensity for walking guys.

NESN, of course, blacked out here in Florida. I'll have to turn off the sound, or listen to this guy Anderson describe every pitch, why he threw it and why the guy was lucky to get his bat on the ball send into the RF corner for a triple.

The other nitwit, will be complaining about every close pitch Snell doesn't get when, obviously, it was "right there"

Have a couple of pops before the game!

Ha. It certainly wouldn't be the first time I've done it and it certainly won't be the last.

I'm so thankful I no longer live in Tampa.

I just hope the Rays don't hit any homers. To paraphrase from Moneyball: There are good foghorns, there are bad foghorns. Then there's 50 feet of crap; and then there's them.

There is no rule on who can start a GT after a loss. But if the Sox win, you need to keep starting them until they lose again. Last time you did not do that, so don't forget this time. There is an unofficial rule that people who forget to keep the streak going more than once are no longer allowed to start GTs. Good luck, and here's hoping for a long winning streak! (And perhaps shorter GT titles).

There's also an unofficial rule that states if your mojo sucks balls, you aren't allowed to start GTs.

I was just informed by the Ray's announcers, that since the All Star break, the Ray's have ha a better offense than the Red Sox. Scoring betther than 8 runs/game. Also, that Snell is prihected to be the best Ray's pitcher of all time!

If I remember right they did not do well against Snell the last time they faced him.

Good rule.

Hill looked like an idiot on the first pitch fastball in the dirt, but then made excellent contact on the lineout to LF. Price looking pretty good so far.
