I.... have no idea why this post exists.

A "This Date in Red Sox History" thread could be interesting.

So here goes: 112 years ago Jesse Tannehill pitched a no-hitter against the White Sox.

Now tomorrow is a bad anniversary: 49 years ago Thursday, Tony C. was beaned.

1. Me neither

2. If you remember what a dumpster fire the end of that season was ... I wanted the perfect game. (indeed there would plenty of time to register the key wins over the Yankees)

I like that idea! I'm going to change the thread title to that.

He had a career year for the Sox in '04.

The Sox got him at just the right time.

I also remember Francona getting destroyed by the fans for continuing to play Bellhorn after his horrible ALDS. The sox probably wouldn't have beat the Yankees that year without Bellhorn.

15 years ago, and it seems yesterday.

Classic.

By the way, smart move to make a new account so you can start a thread without the fear of any black marks against your other account.

As I posted above, August 18, 1967 - Tony C. Was beaned by Jack Hamilton of the Angels.

Hard to believe it was that long ago. He was only 22 years old and already had hit over 100 homers.

I remember this like it was last week. My Aunt had given me a Panasonic AM radio for my birthday and I was listening to the game while in bed.

What a shame.

August 29, 1983 - Jim Rice hit 3 home runs at Toronto as the Red Sox won the second game of a double header 8-7.

Those were the only 3 homer games of Rice's career
