Two (or ten) errors do not excuse the s*** pitching Price did today or the s*** managing Farrell did leaving him in there to struggle.

You know something. You have a point. He should have brought in Tazawa to serve up a couple of gopher balls. But, of course, if he had brought in Tazawa and he had given up those two dingers, you would be on his ass for taking Price out. He's getting paid $217M, you would say, he should be allowed to work his way out a jam. Plus he's nowhere near 100 pitches and it's only the 4th inning. And so on.

The neat thing about blaming managers is you've got them either way if the team loses. And if the team wins, why of course the credit goes to the players. When Francona was managing in Boston,we had fans who truly believed that good managers simply did not lose games. Ever.

Glad I didn't waste my money by going to today's game. Or yesterday's, for that matter.....

Pulling guys isn't rocket science. When a pitcher doesn't have it and is giving up lots of walks and hits, it will end up as runs if you leave them in the game. End of story. It's stupid leaving a guy out there 'to work out of their jam' when they have nothing to work with! Francona was terrible as well (though I still like him overall as a manager).

What the f*** is wrong with this team

Maybe we need to accept the fact that they just aren't that good.

OTOH, 5-6 on a trip to the West coast isn't a disaster. Whether or not they make the postseaon is going to depend on how much they can beat the O's and Jays over the last 8 weeks. If they don;t figure out how to do that, they aren't going to play in October (nor should they).

They flat out stink. They will hit the west coast again. They have alot of road games left and they haven't been good at all.

They should have taken 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers and 3 out of 4 from the Angels. And don't get me started about the Seattle series.

No, they don't stink. Would you really rather be the Braves or the Rays? Those teams stink. The Sox are not a great team. Much as we want them to be, they are not a championship team.

They've been playing .500 ball (give or take) for a couple months. They may well be a slightly above .500 team. They've got a lot of young guys who need to learn how to win consistently over a full season. The 3 B's have never been through this before. Yeah, I know Bradley was on the 2013 team early and Bogaerts was on it late. But they were bit players that year. Now they aren't.

I'm hoping slump. And...... you're right. As much as these games hurt to loose, it hasn't been all that bad. It just looked ugly.

We could use the offense of old right now...... we would have swept both the last two series.......... I know it doesn't work that way...........but it would have been nice.

Listen i feel they can play better. Price was a big letdown today. I know his defense let him down. I would be shocked if farrell's not gone if they don't make the playoffs. Might clean house with the coaches.

We did just pick up a whole bunch of talent. E-Rod getting more healthy, Kimbrel back in action........ A few more timely hits and we could have taken two more games in this series.

I think this team can make a run, as I'm sure you all do................

but this sputtering is painful to watch.....

The best thing about tonight's game was Benintendi.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big game tonight.... a silver lining for sure..... small sample size and all..

still want to know what the heck is wrong with price!

You aren't going to use a reliever; they might be needed to pitch. That leaves one of the starting pitchers. Porcello, Wright, ERod or Pomeranz. Pomeranz may have been a better choice since he;s actually run the bases some this year, but maybe Wright is the fastest of that group.

I would have said f*** it........ and gave the green light to Buchholtz.....

Buchholz--note spelling--has proven in the past that, despite his speed, he is a horrible baserunner.

It seems like Benintendi and maybe Mookie were the only ones who remembered they were playing a game.

It was a failure of a road trip. I was hoping 7-4.

I wouldn't call it a failure, though it was disappointing. Going 5-6 on a west coast road trip is not the end of the world. The Sox have to take care of business at home, and, at minimum, win the next two series.

just finished watching the game. disappointing.

btw - National League rules stink. enough with having pitchers try and bat. it's ridiculous.

It was especially disappointing after losing 5 of 6 at home to Minny and Detroit.

Agreed. That was the bigger issue over going 5-6 on the road. We can't afford home stands like that.

And Detroit has been on a good run since that.
