Team not playing with that swagger that it was. We got 162 games in a season. Now were really gonna see what were made of over the next couple of weeks. Bottom of the rotation sucks and the bats seem to be taking a few nights off. This game drives you batty..

E-Rod with another s***** start.. This rotation remains a huge concern.

Alot of bodies but they all suck. Idk how this team plans to stay on top with s***** pitching after two starters.

Here we go.... Barnes, another stud arm that can't figure it out. Whats with these pitchers that were suppose to be our future.. For everyone that produces, 8 suck.

Kelly, Buchholz, E-Rod, Owens and O'Sullivan have made 25 starts, during those 25 starts they've combined for 6 quality starts. Yes, 6. That is disturbingly bad.

Can Wilson get anymore f***ing lucky? that's seriously like the 6th time a ball has been ripped and its been either right at someone or someone has made a great defensive play.

That is eye-opening and very revealing.

This game f***ing sucks. Toronto's starting to play well also. This team needs to start playing better despite all the major flaws. You have to keep in mind also that this offense from the start bailed out the flaws on this team.

Part of the deal Showalter made with the devil in September 2011 (or maybe even before that). He spent his whole playing career in the Yankees organization (never made the majors) and his first big league managerial gig was with them as well. They didn't call the play Damn Yankees for nothing.

Castillo looks hopeless at the plate. Thank God Sox management didn't listen to this forum and DFA Young and give him the job.

Shaw has hit the ball well tonight, he's only 1-3, but has hit the ball hard all three times, which is a good sign, he needs to get going again.

Rusney stinks

It does appear that is the case. I'll give him a slight break. I think when he hit against Britton on Tuesday it was his first AB since he came up to replace Holt a month ago. Not very many people who are going to look good not seeing the batters box in a month.

This would be a perfect situation for Daniel Bard. He could drill a few O's and legitimately claim he had no idea where the ball was going. OTOH, the bat boys might be in danger so maybe it wouldn't be a good idea. Edited by illinoisredsox

Just finished watching the game...

Looks like Dice K Rodriquez with another tough outing....does he get bonus for going full count on hitters?

Seems like we are not going to need 1 but 2 SPs, if we want to compete for a playoff spot.

How was ER's velocity?

Not sure. I thought I heard O'B and/or Remy say something about 95 in one of the first couple innings but I could be wrong on that. They did say that right now he's only throwing the fastball and a straight change; he needs a 3rd pitch to at least show hitters.

Another loss against this damn team..... Only positive now is we play the Mariners who have been struggling over the last couple weeks... If we can't beat them I will be seriously worried......

The losing record against Tor and Bal isn't making me happy. Those series have been a game of inches, but......... I'd like to stick a wooden stake into either of those teams hearts.....

My thought is that this series, while still very early in the season, has some resemblance to something definitive. The Orioles this year do have an offense, especially all those dingers. But, unlike the Sox, they also have pitching. The Orioles starter last night, despite his 4+ ERA, shut down what has been the best lineup in MLB--in Fenway--and he seemed to do it with a 89-90 mph fastball and a nice curve/slider and pretty good control, which is what Sox starters mostly. Good pitching, sadly, usually trumps good hitting. In game 1 Tuesday the Sox lost despite Price having a pretty good start. So the Sox lost the series because of basically silent bats in 2 of the 3 games. Orioles pitching isn't just better than ours. This time, anyway, it was better than our lineup.

I thought Buchholz looked sharp--good fast ball, but also good changeup and good curve and pretty good command of all three.

The thing about a pitcher like Wilson with a 4 ERA is that if your luck is bad you're going to catch him on one of those nights where he's got his best stuff.

Mike Mussina said that over the course of a season with 32 starts he would have 8 starts where everything was working, 16 where something was working and 8 where nothing was working.

That is a great semi-quote and entirely believable. Maybe the best description I've yet read of MLB starters.
