Good on Pedroia, but I want to know why he is the one pointing these things out, and not the coaches, whose job it is to see these things. Based on the clips that were aired in last night's game, the difference in mechanics was pretty noticeable. Why did Willis not notice this several games ago?

Been thinking this ever since that was announced. And hasn't Price had lower velocity than before? Now, I'm no pro coach, but the leg kick would be one of the first things you would look at. With all the data\video the coaches have available, something is really wrong here that they couldn't identify that much earlier.

According to fangraphs, Price has a 1.0 WAR right now. Pretty sure their calculations are messed up right now (Wright and Porcello's also don't seem right at all)

Yeah, that can't be right. Just out of curiosity, I checked ESPN and they have Price with a -0.7 WAR.

FanGraphs WAR for pitchers is based heavily on FIP - Fielding Independent Pitching. Price has a BABIP against of .373, which is crazy high. An inordinate number of balls in play off him are falling in for hits.

In other words, cross your f'king fingers and hope FanGraphs is right about this s***.

That's a good question. My guess is that coaches have their hands full with all the players they're responsible for and i bet it's easy for some minor details to slip through the cracks, or get lost in the shuffle, and not get noticed. Pedey looking at his own video and simply noticed a minor detail. It's not the first time for Pedey to do this (Nap, if short lived, but still counts). I don't exactly fault the coaches due to their work load. A player is really just responsible for themselves. Pedroia is a team player even in the video room and that speaks volumes to me. My hope is that Pedroia is with the organization long after he retires ... as a coach or even a scout. He loves the game, he's not in it for the money necessarily, he's a true competitor, and he hates to lose.

I don't know Emp, I still think the coaching staff should have noticed this. It's not like Price was just scuffling a little bit. His struggles have been very real and quite serious, considering he is supposed to be our ace. IMO, finding the flaw in his mechanics should have been Willis' top priority.

That pretty much guarantees that Price will be on tonight.

It's the begining part of the season. Lots of issues to attend to. Many sails to right. Price was probably the last thing they thought they had to even think about. Porcello wasn't great from the start, Buch still isn't, injuries to ERod, Kelly, Smith. Wright filling in. Switching Swihart w/ Vaz... Kimbrel had his early hiccups. Etc... Lots of moving parts. Good thing is tonight Price seems to be fixed and lets hope its all a distant fading memory.
