He used to do ESPN, (baseball and horses) but moved to FSN not so long ago.

"PERIODICAZO!"

LOL!

Yeah he is the guy, I just googled him. He is so entertaining even in bored games.

Funny, I don't see your mod tag, did I miss something?

HAHAHAHA!!!! I was just thinking that!!!! I'm new here....but I think I just found the 'I run this place......even though I really don't run this place' guy!!!!!!!!! Nice......now that that's out of the way......... Let me introduce myself...... I'm the guy that 'doesn't bow down.....'...... hehehehehehehehehehehe

Also, MVP is correct in that this needs to be moved into the GB forum. UN? is correct in that we have to give our sudden influx of members time to adjust to the forum. UN? is also correct (and I can not express to you the depths of my displeasure in admitting that he is correct twice in a single post) in that nobody needed to be a douche. And I am correct in saying that ESPN does, indeed, suck.

Youk Of The Nation, moderator.

Let's not even start with that. MVP was just trying to keep the clutter down, let's not ascribe more motive than that.

Jeepers. You guys are playing nice.

Al it took was recognizing and acknowledging commonality.

Good boys.

Good to see. Sometimes commonality takes time... especially for strong minded stubborn types. Not that I would know anything about that. :)

I said that in good fun. MVP and I had a great debate earlier on another thread and I took a swipe to make him laugh should he have seen that post. That was all...............zero malice intended as I'm sure MVP would attest. My apologies if it was seen as anything other than that.....

ESPN sucks

Curt Schilling gets fired but scumbags like Chris Carter and Ray Lewis are still collecting paychecks.

Why is Chris Carter a scumbag?

Don't worry about me. It takes quite a lot for me to get offended on here. This place exists so we can shoot the s*** and have a little fun.

Lot of responses to a somewhat inocuous OP. I like watchespn a lot during basketball season. Also espn.com baseball stats. Schilling should have been fired, not because he isn't entitled to his opinion, but because he was/is stupid to go public with those views.

I object to the Sunday night games starting at 8 pm, simple as that. It's a school/work night and MLB games tend to go on forever. I get up NLT than 0600 for work, so 11 pm is about as late as I can stay up. Sunday night's game was still in the 7th inning at 11. espn is of course paying for the right to do the one and only game on Sunday nights, so they get to call to call the shots, which means start later to get that west coast audience. I don't know what their number are for those games, but find it hard to believe the 8 pm start time for a Boston-Boston (Sox and Braves) game does all that great out west. However, I don't know the numbers and could be wrong.

They insist on starting Sunday night games at 8, which means us east coast viewers have to stay up late (or way late), but it also louses up the players who have to play the next day or night, which is especially burdensome because Monday is usually a travel day. Most often, if a team plays, travels, and plays again in a different ballpark the next day or night, they play a day game followed by a night game the next day.

I also thought the coverage of the game was lousy.

I don't like the Sunday Night games. I have to get up at 5 a.m. and be mentally and emotionally "alert". Staying up much past 10:00 makes that difficult to do.

I love ESPN and always will. The players aren't complaining about the traveling issue, and nobody's making you stay up to watch the whole game. You people are so against something different. Deal with it.

Players and managers have complained about the traveling issue after Sunday night games.

Okay. I must live under a rock. If I were a player, I would cherish every moment under the spotlight though. One thing they could do is ensure an off day the day after such games.

Yup, Schilling was an employee and subject to the whims of ESPN.

What I don't like is the hypocrisy that goes with ESPN's PR machine and their pandering to whatever social issues get's them the most "likes".

Too bad job performance doesn't seem to factor into it at all.

If it did, Ray Lewis wouldn't have a job.

Ray Lewis was involved in a murder. Yet he gets paraded out there like he's a hero or something. Guy should be in jail. Schilling speaks his mind on a political issue and he gets canned. The thing about ESPN is the double standard. They will protect women, they will protect minorities, and they will protect "their guys" to a fault. Berman can do no wrong, even though he has been sexually abusing women at the place for decades. Stephen A can spout as much race baiting crap as he wants and hey, "he's edgy". Same with Broussard. Heck, Broussard came out with outright homophobic stuff and they just swept it under the rug. Both of them should apologize to Stuart Scott at his grave site, the first minority on their air who did it the right way. He was edgy with class who kept it about sports, not politics, until he became an ambassador for cancer patients. But Stephen A and Broussard, those guys are jokes who make it about themselves. The only minority that I can remember for being removed from ES"BM" for their words (not actions Harold Reynolds) was the guy who asked if Robert Griffin was a "cornball brother". Black on black speak wont be tolerated, but rip on old whitey all you want and you'll get more air time, lol. Edited by jacksonianmarch

ESPN panders to liberals. What Schilling said was douchey, but it's just his opinion. I'd be at peace with the firing if they weren't total hypocrites.

They are absolutely hypocritical. That is the issue. By firing Schilling and doing nothing with Broussard, they basically set two different standards based on your racial status. It is racism at its finest

From twitter: ESPN2 is currently showing 4 Days in October. They skipped the game 6 part (Curt Schilling bloody sock). Guess who ESPN recently fired

Problem is that most workplaces have a Social Media Policy which states what you can and can't do. You say it doesn't hurt ESPN, but having their on air personalities make socially controversial statements in the public does just that in their opinion. It's the world we live in. Schilling should have just made his page private or learned from his previous missteps. He's 100% at fault for being fired. He should have known better if he wanted to keep his job.
