If he had stayed in Boston, maybe he'd be more beloved. However, he went to Philly where everyone hated him. He developed a s***** attitude. He brought his s***** attitude to DC and tried to choke out one of the most popular players in the game.

The s***** attitude fit Philly. As for choking Harper, a lot of people felt that Harper could use a good ass kicking. He is pretty high on the jack ass scale. At least he went after a big stud with an attitude and not the 65 year old traveling secretary. It couldn't have been looked at as such a terrible thing by the organization as they have kept Papelbon and gotten rid of Storen. I don't hold it against our guys if they leave us, because we don't want to pay them. It's not like he went to the Yankees. Maybe the guy rubbed you the wrong way, but I don't think he was considered unlikeable in Boston.

You're in denial. Papelbon is and has always been a douche.
i just don't remember much negative about him in the press when he was in Boston. He danced in his underwear when he celebrated in 2007, but everyone got a good laugh out of that. I just can't recall him having any negative incidents with the press, the fans or the manager. You are revising history. We get it that you don't like him, but the guy did the job for us for a lot of years without incident.

As I said, loved the player, hated the person. Same thing with Brady and Bryant. And I'm not revising history, Papelbon is unlikeable. Not Brett Myers level, but he's a tool.

Myers beat his wife to a pulp so badly that he got arrested while out of town on a road trip. I don't remember Papelbon doing anything bad while on Boston. He certainly didn't do anything like Myers. I think you are being unfair to him.

Yeah - a few people did want to choke Harper. Those people are old. Unwritten rules baloney.

No one on his team came to his defense, not even the young guys. Harper has a reputation in his locker room as a douche.

I literally said not Brett Myers level. As in unlikeable, but not downright malicious. You completely misinterpreted what I meant.

They shouldn't even be in the same sentence. Myers dragged his wife by the hair through the streets of Boston.

Tools are tools. One is a violent tool, one is a douchey tool who evolved into a violent one and choked out a teammate.
