Four of the team's losses can be pinned on what are supposed to be the team's three best pitchers (Price, Koji, Kimbrel). It's still early, but that is concerning to say the least.

If 41 year old Koji topping out at 87 is one of our three best pitchers, this team's in trouble.

Koji, at 40, topping out at 87, was one of the league's best pitchers. That's a moronic statement.

Moronic statement? How's that?

Koji had an outstanding 2013. He's never going to be at that level. He's getting older. He's likely in decline mode.

On the hand IMO he's going to be helpful if he is not overused, otherwise don't be surprised if he passes more time at DL than on the mound.

Because the team is better with Koji throwing 87 than Matt Barnes throwing 97.

Right on the money. Koji is one of the best pitchers in the league. He's been getting elite results with an 87 MPH fastball for years, regardless of age. The problem as far as Koji is concerned, is Farrell.

Barnes is a lost cause. Don't take me wrong, I like Koji but expecting him being 2013 Koji is unreal.

Uehara pitched to a 2.41 ERA, 171 (!)!, ERA+, 0.917 WHIP, 10.9 K/9, 1.8 BB/9, 7.47 (!) K/BB in 104.2 IP in 14/15. That's elite production out of the pen. Saying otherwise is just dumb, but they need to, as we all know, watch his usage because he's 41.

No one is expecting him to be 2013 Koji, you are making that up. Stick to the facts. The fact is that Koji has been excellent his entire career. He's one of the best relievers in the league, full stop.

104 in which period of time? LOL!

Koji's a time bomb. His durability is never goimg to be the same. As I said, he is never going to be 2013 Koji's 74 IP.

Look at 2014, he pitched 64 IP. 2015? 40 IP. Don't be surprised if this is his last season as a MLB player.

It's a combinaion of the 2014-2015 period. No setup man in the league right pitches 100+ IP. Basic math tells you I was speaking of 14/15, and I even corrected it in the post. And every pitcher in the league is a ticking time bomb if he is misused. You are arguing for the sake of arguing (and very poorly mind you). Uehara is excellent.

the comment was more about the rest of the roster than Koji. But how long can he keep it going? Tick, tick, tick....

Also, can someone please explain the "he was only available if we were leading" bs?

With each passing game, I am getting more and more concerned with Farrell. He is clearly incompetent and makes numerous idiotic/questionable decisions a game.

Several pitchers are durable, like Papelbon. Koji is not a durable pitcher anymore, go figure.

It doesn't matter what he posts - although he is in decline mode IMO- if he can't stay healthy.

The explanation is simple! Farrell is a f***ing idiot.

Koji has destroys Papelbon stats every year since he arrive in Boston. Get over the Papelbon sensation.

This is what is so frustrating. Also our strong offense didn't show up two games when Wright pitched very well. The loses so far just haven't made sense.

OK. I'm waited too long. Now I'm going to stop holding my breath and start into full panic.

Still way, way too early to panic.

Price has been disappointing in a couple of starts so far, but I have no doubt he will settle in and be the Price that we all expected.

That said, this loss stinks big time. You expect to win every time you spot Price 5 runs.

Can we go back to the days with Farrell as our Pitching Coach, Tito, and Theo as our GM? :(

Ahhh, the good 'ol days.

Yup, its like Sox are just FINDING ways to lose games. Score 8 runs with David Price on the mound and lose. Get 2 unexpected quality starts from Steven Wright against Blue Jays and lose. Its just really frustrating how inconsistent this team is.

I'm not panicking yet at all, but one thing is for sure in my mind: Farrell needs to be fired. He is horrible.

I had to come back to NY today, so I didn't get to the game. I just finished watching on DVR, and I am glad that I wasn't there.

Price looked like horseshit.

Hanley has been hitting the ball hard with nothing to show for it. I expect him to break out very soon.

Shaw is making Pablo a complete no-issue. The guy doesn't wast any ABs and he is a much better fielder than I had expected him to be.

Pedroia is heating up.

Bogaerts is heating up.

Betts is getting in a groove.

David Ortiz continues to be great.

It was a very disappointing game today, but there are a lot of bright spots. I think this team will go on a run on the road.

Agree. There are a lot of bright spots, and Price will be a bright spot too, despite his not so bright start as a Red Sox.

Koji will not be able to repeat his 2013 season, but that season was otherworldly. He is still an elite reliever if he is used properly.

It's the most annoying thing. Papelbon f***ing blows.

Speaking of John Lackey, Allen Craig is getting 5 million a year to play in AAA. Thank God, the Paw-Sox have been desperate for a Jeff Bailey replacement for a while!
