My calculus teacher and I have been going back and forth about this series for some time now, and it seems like he'll have much more to talk about. After all, he named his son Camden, and it wouldn't surprise me if his middle name was Yards.

Thought this was gonna be how your teacher used calculus to come up with some brainbusting sabermetric stats.

We can't get the ball to Taz if the starter can't get through 5 without coughing up over and over.

Clay though is one sorry of an excuse for a player with 10 year veteranship.

The way this Orioles team plays is scary... If they don't win the AL, I'll fall out of the Eutaw Street Warehouse in disbelief.

Some guy got a tattoo that said Detroit Lions 2015 Superbowl Champions. Like him, I suggest you hold off until the full results are in. "It ain't over 'til it's over."

Shaw is taken out again, I cant with Farrell.

Farrell is hurting this team and my fantasy team. He has to go.

Shaw has a good glove and reliable arm. He can handle third base. I don't need any metrics to figure it out.

Nah. You're old with failing eyes and you rely on your ass to decide such things. And because your eyes suck, you can't read the metrics.

Fess up geezer.

Agreed. Clay looks extremely confident in himself tonight. As much cap as I give him, one of his positives is he can turn it around quick. He has a bad game and learns from it... looks awesome tonight.

Or, he is good one day and blows goats the next day.

He is inconsistent. And he can't be relied upon for anything.

I am a geezer, but even if we were wearing Stevie Wonder specs we would still be able to figure this stuff out from our transistor radios. Lol!

Our pitching sucks, big time.

Yes, it does.

Some here will undoubtedly continue to say that if this staff pitches to capability or to it's potential or as well as they have in the past, all will be fine.

That's the same ******** that was tossed around here a year ago.

I keep saying it. I have been saying it since it was a work in process. They should never have blown up the rotation in 2014. They did not have a clear plan to likely success after doing so. Now they can't or won't do what is necessary to completely rebuild the staff. Just dumb.

I don't get what Farrell is doing with Shore.

Why does he keep taking him out? Have any of these moves gained anything at all???

Sorry Spud, that's horsepucky.......

I haven't read a post saying our rotation is good enough. Only high hopes at best. And maybe some posts praising an outing that wasn't a tragedy yet.

I would bet on Buch to do better. He was one lucky late swing homer away or a caught popup today from having a good outing. Yes he will break down at some point.

E-Rod is missed.

Our last series we played the number one offense of last year, and now a team that is on fire. And we had a bad outing by our expensive ace.

I can't stand that this is starting to look like 2015. But there are reasons we are negative one game.

This aint over yet.

Well, I couldn't say it better Spud. Hopefully DD rebuilds -somehow and soon- the mess that Ben left regarding pitching. Price is a good start but at this point we need a No2 and a No3. E-Rod is a nice promise but still a promise who needs to stay healthy, first.

Hi SH.

Several people thought that this staff (aside Price, of course), was good enough to compete last year. They even thought that it was a good strategy going like that.

Well, it was one of the worst ratations in Red Sox history, I bet.

Aside Price (and E-Rod who is not healthy, and still I have to see the kid pitch more, and Wright who is encouraging but still a big ?) we have the same garbage.

Yeah, it is still early, but we basically have the core we got last year (Buck No2, Porcello No3, Kelly No. 4), which again, it's garbage.

Hopefully I'm wrong and they prove me wrong.

So no one in this rotation can throw a decent game with any sort of consistency?

Recent history says Buchholz, Porcello and Kelly can't.

Price should be fine. Wright seems ok. Better hope ERod regains health and form.

The O's are red hot, so we're running into a buzzsaw at the beginning of the season. The problem is that these are chronicles of an announced death. This unit is weaksauce, and we all knew it.

They should have dumped a bunch of veterans last year they way they did in 2012.

We know two things about your team. Your offense will be top 5 and as currently constituted, your rotation will be bottom 10. Price was a badly needed ace on the staff, but the rest of the rotation was s***. They might pan out and it is awfully early to make a panic move. You've got a kid in ERod who should add stability to the 2 slot, but as constituted, it sounds like you'd kick Wright out of the rotation. He was the only non Price guy to give you anything of value in his first start. If your ace, offense and pen carry you to striking distance at the deadline, DD will have no choice but to strike for a starter. If you made the playoffs right now, Price, ERod and who? Your playoff rotation would stink beyond the 2

Neither of our teams are good enough to worry about playoff rotations.

I realize two days ago was premature ... is it too early for complete panic now?

Yes. You need to get to the end of April, at the very least. It's way too early to panic. This team isn't 0-7. The offense is pumping. The bullpen is really good. The team has been fine defensively. The rotation just needs to be tweaked (either by the pitchers settling down or by bringing new blood in).

Posted
Playoffs? It would be silly to worry about the rotation that far in advance. You have to get there first.

Totally agree. But if that is the ultimate goal, you cannot basically go in with what you have

The goal for this team is to get to the playoffs or at least make a nice run. I don't think anyone is under the illusion they'll be able to do anything if they get in.

I am, if only for the usual playoff randomness, because the quality of the pitching clearly is not there.

Ah the old Billy Beane taking a baseball bat to the clubhouse wall because of "luck" gag. I don't buy it. Luck can win you one game, but won't get you to win the whole thing.
