If this FO isn't dealing every piece we have to get better pieces.......... then they truly should go.............

There are some pieces that should be just kept.

The thing about this is, this ownership is not going to go into full rebuilding mode. I'm not sure exactly which pieces you are talking about, but I can't foresee them trading someone like Pablo or Hanley just for the sake of getting rid of them, taking a big hit in the process. If it's a good trade that makes sense for next year and beyond, then sure. Otherwise, they are just creating more needs that don't need to be created.

The problem is that they have no discernible strategy. The entire organization appears to be in disarray.

It seemed like they had a strategy up until they re-signed Drew last year. After that point, they've been vomiting all over themselves.

We can say "fire Ben and Farrell" all we want, but nothing will change if the directives have been all coming down from an out of touch ownership. I think Werner and Lucchino are detrimental to this team. I think Henry is too distracted by everything else has has going on (newspaper, soccer, racing, etc.) to give the Sox the proper oversight.

I'm being general. I don't think tearing down the team and restarting is the way they will go or the way they should go.

When I say every piece is a trading chip, the FO should be and probably is looking at every possible angle to make the team stronger. If that means Taz can be traded to get something better, then it should be done. I'm sure the FO is looking every possible angle. If Taz could help bring in a high end starter, you have to entertain that thought.

I don't like getting into specifics of who I think is going to be traded. We will never know what happens at the negotiation table, we only know the outcome. There are some positions I think could be upgraded and I hope our FO can figure out how to upgrade, but in those negotiations I think every piece we have should be a possible trading chip. Otherwise you aren't playing with your full hand.

That may well be a valid defense for Ben. I'm not sure it is for Farrell though. Too much underperformance and too many in-game blunders, physical and mental.

They need to find the problem and fix it. Someone needs to be fired or reassigned.

I agree. At this point, no one on the coaching staff deserves a contract for this year.

Isn't the only real strategy to get good players at every position? Then when you can't do that, you say something like "our strategy is a powerful offense that will overcome our mediocre pitching".

I can call them only if they are going to happen. . . sometimes. I wish I could make it happen. Lol!

Don't be that guy, just do it! You are always right, don't worry. I'm not too far from you, don't make me find you. Lol!

I'd hate to see Taz go..........

I hope we get one of these Japanese guys to retire with the Sox............. Taz is just solid.......... I hope he retires with the Sox....... middle relievers never get credit......... even when they lock s*** down night after night..........

The guy has been a workhorse for this team. Overall, the best reliever of the past 5-6 years. Trading him would be very dumb.

LOL!! How long will you be here? I will be in Charlotte until Wednesday. If you are still around on Thursday or Friday and you are in NYC, we should meet for a drink. Pete and I can compare notes on whether you can kick UN's ass. LOL!!

Currently in Long Island City, Queens. Will be here until Monday morning then headed to Manhattan upper east side for about a week. Brooklyn for 3 days. Quick question, I want to go to a Mets game today. Think I can go to the stadium and buy tickets? Buying online sucks because of all the bs extra charges.

Get them on stubhub. There should be some good deals there as the Mets have been dumping tickets on stubhub for the last 2-3 years below face value. Get on the 7 train at queensboro plaza station and take the #7 express train 3 stops to Citifield. If you can't find anything on stubhub, there should be tickets available at the box office. Good luck. The express train has a diamond not a circle around the 7.

just a warning. You should probably have a beer or two as soon as you get to the park so your eyes can adjust to the shock of seeing good major league pitching. Lol!

Thanks for the advice. A local told me to do this earlier today when I went to take the tour(which isn't available on game days, booo). I forgot about stubhub, think I'm going to do that instead.

Lmao, at least I can enjoy a game on this trip. Currently looking around for a paper bag to wear for our series next week vs the Yankees.

Have fun Mike.

Pretty cool advise from Ted.

Will do Pete!

I agree, the FO has to consider every possible angle, and I believe that they do. There is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes that we have no clue about. While there are some players that I would really not want to trade, any player is tradeable for the right price.

No way. It stunted Xander's SS development for a slap hitter who could no longer make contact. Drew was exposed at the end of 2013. Bringing him back was idiotic.

Just thinking about things but when you look at the big picture going into spring training, there was not one position that you couldn't call into question. Even Pedroia because of the injuries he has had. We all hoped things would work out and many thought that they would. They didn't. If there is anything that resembles a rebuild, I hope that it starts with pitching and then progresses to general defense. The hitting aspect needs to be addressed last. If you can keep them from scoring, no matter how bad you might be offensively, you have a chance. I don't know how this affects the status of Sandoval and Ramirez and in all honesty, I don't care. If Ortiz is back as our dh, there is no place for Ramirez. He is too much of a liability no matter where you play him. If Sandoval does not do what he needs to do, same thing goes for him. If we are going to suck for a while, lets at least suck going in the right direction.

It was idiotic in hindsight. It was not idiotic at the time of the signing.

I can see Kimmi's point.

It was just another example of having a an idea that seemed good at the time. It did not work out.

I can see this. Unlike the formation of the rotation which had even more reasons to fail.

I don't think that it made much difference with respect to XB's development. He made all the difference during this past off season. I really don't think more reps would have made much difference at all. He realized what he needed to do to become an elite shortstop. During the off season, he got it done. I would not let him go for anything! Trade Guerra - he looks like a potential star but I like the guy we got there right now.
