The UCL is connected to the elbow, isn't it?

The ulna sure is.

But the first symptom is usually forearm tightness, from what I've seen. Usually the elbow pain and discoloration around it happens when there's already a full tear.

I'd defer to the Yankee-loving douchey doctor here, so he has the opportunity to be useful for once.

We'll, I always prepare myself mentally for the worst out of a Yankee series. And many times the outcome far exceeds the worst I could conjure up in my mind.

And again....... it was worse than I thought could be....

Well, we're still 5 games out of the WC. I'd say we'd still be in the buying mindset.

With four teams on top for the division, and around the same for the WC? If Buch is down with serious injury, this team is done. I'm positive, but also realistic.

If Buch is out for weeks, kiss it good bye. Do NOT panic-trade for Hamels. Be sellers at the deadline.

Why do we have to sell? Can't we just stay put? I don't see want to see our talent vanish in the blink of an eye. Just hold on, and adjust the proper pieces over the winter.

Ideally we would sell off some of the crap in this badly constructed roster, but there's probably no moving Hanley or Panda or Porcello/Miley.

There's a good base to this team. We won't see some of the really good talent leave, without coming back some really good talent.

We are a few pieces away from being a dominate team with the young nucleus we have and the overpaid screw jobs we have.....

I really don't want to see worst to first to worst to worst, but it's starting to look that way. Hopefully with two lefties going the next couple games we can keep the Yankees in check and get some offense going. If we win the next two games that's only 4.5 back from the top.

Lol. And you were being so nice to Dojji!!! Hahahahahaha!!!!

But it's true. Jacko knows this s***. I know a bunch about physiology but he be a docta.

And who should be sold and for what?

I say buy with the intent of building a future if this year is shot.

I'm more concerned about Laptop being done or disabled than I am about being swept by the Skanks.

That Clay guy........he's wearing on my nerves. He's has done it for years.
usually he gets injured in June. This year he waited until the second week of July. I guess his durability is improving. We knew that "Good Buch" had a limited expiration dates. Expecting a good full season from him just was not reasonable. We might see him again in September in garbage time. In the mean time Miley moves up to being our number 2. We desperately need pitching.

Is Napoli more useless than a doorstopper?
it is time for Napoli to go. He is killing us on both sides of the ball. He can't catch anything cleanly this year. Pedey has saved him from a number of additional errors and home town scoring has spared him from others. Let him go catch up on years of lost sleep. Adios!

For buch, speculation abounds. A tear of the UCL can have many different times of presentation and a few different symptoms. Your partial tears usually aren't symptomatic until you rest and try to ramp up again. This is what happened with Tanaka. He struggled in two straight games then had tightness when he pitched his bullpen session. There was no prodrome of weakness for Buch, as from what I read, he abruptly lost his velocity in the inning he was replaced. That points more to an acute complete tear or a significant partial thickness tear if it's the UCL. Pitchers can have a lot of different pathologies in the elbow or presenting with elbow pain. Could be a flexor strain or ulnar neuritis as well. You don't know until he's MRI'd, but this doesn't look good for him, obviously. You even mention your elbow and you're usually down for a month as a pitcher even if you don't have anything wrong.

Now I didn't watch the game, did he call the trainers out or did they notice something? Also, did he seem to grab the elbow after a pitch?

This was a regressive game, something we've had a little too often. We can still win this series though. Our lefties tonight shut them down pretty well. Both Miley and E-Rod gave positive signs last time out. This Yankees lineup is too full with lefties. E-Rod can definitely shut them down, and we've played well on FOX this year, so I have confidence for tomorrow night. Anyway, my mojo had a good run, but we need to grab these last two before the break.

This game was bad in every way possible. I really wanted to win the first game of the series to take some of the pressure off. We've lost 8 of the last 9 games at Fenway to the Yankees, which really pisses me off. We have to hope that we can win the next two.

Yep. I completely agree. That's an accurate representation of my mindset.

He called the catcher out and they both called the trainers after that. He didn't grab at his elbow but he was stretching it like something was up.

So start one. There is no rule against it.

Well, now that there is one, I'm just curious: Could I really do that?
