Ben should be fired for thinking this bullpen would be good enough to counter balance the s*** rotation. He could have been as positive as he wanted to about the rotation going into the season, but the fact is there is no way in the world he could have actually thought this rotation would have been good enough. Just look at all of the pitchers 2014 performances. Only one person (porcello) had an era under 4. Masterson was over 6, Buchholz was over 5, and Wade Miley and Joe Kelly both had era's in the mid 4's. What a poorly constructed team this is.

It takes a special talent to miss hardcore on so many guys.

This team embarrasses itself. Players don't know how many outs there are when they are in the field (twice in the last few games) or when they are on base. They don't know the count when they are at the plate (Hanley tonight). The infielders don't know where to line up for cutoff throws on hits to the outfielders. The outfielders don't know where to throw the ball when they get it. They run the bases like chickens with their heads cut off. They fall prey to double steals. That is not bad luck. That is just bad baseball. Bad coaching.

I think that I am at the point where the coaching is starting to bug me. I'm not really sure a coach should be held accountable for a ml player not knowing the count though. That is a joke and it's on Ramirez. I wonder what he would do for a living if he couldn't hit? I just don't like the way they handle certain situations. I felt that he left both Layne and Barnes in a little longer than he should have. It is a team that is very reluctant to sit a veteran down but very quick to throw a player just called up into the fire. I also think that they have some pretty good bullpen options that they aren't even considering. With this current starting rotation, if they are not going to move any of them to the pen, I think that I would at least like to see Johnson and Wright back on the roster. I don't see what else they have to prove. Do they stay in Pawtucket forever? Other than out the door, is there really any other place for Kelly or Masterson. i really think that the time for some major changes is coming.

Bad fan here I think - I'm sick of seeing Napoli flail away day after day and the prospect of seeing Victorino and Nava back on the roster doesn't do anything for me. Also, when does someone tell Breslow that his ship has sailed. The other options might not be great but something different might be better to watch.

I missed the 12th inning. Even before that, it was one of the most amateurishly played and coached game I've ever seen. Tie game, slugfest, late--have your best hitter bunt. 1 out, runner on second, same situation--steal. Wait, how many outs? ... But a hit batsman, error, and stealing home (I assume that was a screwed up routine double steal?) in ONE inning?

Cherington doesn't want to eat crow if Napoli moves on and regains his stroke. The most obvious move right now, though, is to DFA Napoli, move Hanley to 1b and fill the OF with guys who use the leather thing on their non throwing hands while in the OF, unlike Ramirez

Wow, just wow - is this the most mismanaged team in history?

WHY JUNICHI TAZAWA DIDN’T PITCH IN FRIDAY’S 12-8 LOSS TO ASTROS

By Ryan Hannable

Red Sox reliever Junichi Tazawa has been used in 36 of the 82 games this season, by far the most on the team and tied for 11th-most in the American League.

After not appearing in a game since June 28 and the Red Sox being in a tie game in both the eighth and 10th innings, it was quite a surprise not to see Tazawa used in a game the Red Sox fell 12-8 to the Astros.

Following the game it was unveiled why.

“He needed the series off in Toronto given how much the work load was in Tampa Bay He threw a bullpen earlier today. After the bullpen he was deemed OK and yet advised not be be used tonight — to not get him warmed up or hot twice in one day,” manager John Farrell said. “He will be available for tomorrow, but that was what the plan laid out to get on the mound today, but not be available tonight. Otherwise he would be in the eighth or the tenth, either of those situations.”

Agreed. Have him throw his bullpen during the game. If he feels, good let him spend his bullets in the game. If he doesn't feel good, there isa second mound in the pen to warm upsomeone along with him like Barnes or Ramirez.

Keep in mind this is on a night where Ogando is also unavailable, and the starting pitcher is likely to go 5 innings at best.

I'm not sure who to blame for all this, but the entire management seems to be in disarray.

They called up Wright today. Why wasn't he brought up yesterday?

There is no way Ramirez would move to first base. Unfortunate but that has already been discussed.
