If we continue to turn this around, Willis has to win some kind of award. He's been a godsend.

So in one week he has fixed things?

He says that he has done very little.

Guess that's a Godsend.

Willis got hired because he is a Friend of Farrell, not because he is a pitching guru. Even those pitching coches who are known as "gurus" aren't really gurus. Billy Martin always hired his pitching coaches on the basis of whether they could keep up with him at the bar.

LOL that is a funny line about Martin. Billy was a lunatic though...unfortunately his death was the ultimate comment on his lifestyle.

Once again I don't think any of us really know jack about whether a pitching coach can make a difference or not.

I think if a pitching coach can make one or two useful suggestions to the pitchers about their mechanics he's probably earned his pay that year.

Maybe that is what was needed. They were saying on the broadcast last night that this is a veteran group of pitchers that have had success elsewhere. Maybe Nieves was overthinking things. These guys know what they need to do to put together a string of good outings. Willis probably came in and let them do their thing.

It better mean that he's fixed things, because as of now, Miley is supposed to start the game I'm going to next Sunday.

Pitchers will tell you about the contribution of pitching coaches as far as mechanics go. That is not their main function. Their biggest contribution is making sure that the pitchers get the right amount of work to be ready and not overworked and to report back to the manager about the pitchers.

Just look at all those f***s Koji doesn't give

Pete Abraham @PeteAbe · 6h 6 hours ago

Opponents 0 for 23 vs. @TeamUehara in his last 8 games. 7.2 scoreless innings.

Looks like the good Koji has returned!

This implies that pitching coaches have very little input about mechanics because the pitchers have all that under control. So what, the pitchers go off all on their own analyzing tapes of their deliveries and make any necessary changes? It doesn't make sense to me.

Ooooh.....so FELIX MOTHERf***ING HERNANDEZ you *******s can hit.....Jesus.

Our offense seems to do better against aces than it does against the scrubs. Go figure.

What scares me is that it was the same way in 2012. Not a good omen.

Now the question is, what pitchers?

I don't believe in anecdotal evidence that doesn't even get a complete anecdote.
