It was a pretty typical Porcello start. Cruising early with a lot of ground balls. Started to fade after 80 pitches. Gets a couple runners on and has to pitch out of the stretch and starts leaving pitches up and gets hammered.

He was starting to leave the ball up. The next hitter hit it hard but to deep CF. I've seen this happen all too often with Porcello. Most nights I would take 6 innings and 3 ER.

As a primary Tiger fan, I'm glad he didn't sign that contract with Detroit. I just don't like pitchers who can't generate a swing and miss. I liked him as the 5th starter. If the Red Sox were into gambles, I would rather gamble on Shane Greene. Ground ball pitcher like Porcello but with better stuff. The trade off is, he doesn't have the track record that Porcello does.

Long season. First start. There was some promise. I'll have to settle for 161-1.
