No longer a fan of the organization.

My hatred for the front office and management finally boiled over.

 

I can no longer root for this organization unless Larry Luchinno is removed from office. I will always love the TEAM at heart, but its just not fun anymore.

 

From this point on, I will root for Theo and Lester and the underdog Cubs. I've rooted for an underdog my entire life, and nothing will compare to the absolute joy/thrill of finally seeing a World Series winner in 2004.

 

The ownership group has literally made it impossible to root for them. I hate the ********. I hate the 7th anniversary of 2004. I hate the 10th anniversary of 2004. I hate the shameless TV shows. I hate paying 25 dollars for a beer. I hate the highest ticket prices in baseball to watch a s***** product 3 out of the last 4 years. I hate them for Bobby Valentine. I hate them for Carl Crawford. I hate them for losing Theo. I hate them for the Terry Francona smear campaign. I hate them for "Cheerful Cody Ross" and the "Friendly Mike Aviles" and the "Inspiring Daniel Nava". I hate them for bricks and coffee table books. I hate TV ratings and sellouts. I hate the fact that they feel like they have to celebrate EVERYTHING just to put butts in seats. I hate them for Jon Lester.

 

I hate that they went away from a baseball team, and became a business that only cares about tv ratings, revenue and sellouts consisting of 50% pink hats, 25% white collar "fans" and 25% of REAL fans.

 

I hope you all can understand the rant. I hope to one day root for this team again, but they are pretty much everything I hate about professional sports. I think that taking an interest in the Cubs will really give me what I am missing as a fan of baseball. Passion, and love of the game......

 

In the end, its still a game.....a child's game. As such, it should be fun to watch. I think this will be a fun year to be a fan of baseball again.

No. Front running would be if I became a San Francisco Giants fan or a Yankees fan. I want to root for the Cubs, and I know they have almost zero shot of winning, but thats not the point.

 

I never said that I was waiting my whole life for it. I want to root for a team that is an underdog, and where baseball is still baseball. Not a reality TV show.

You're not the only one upset about the Lester situation, or how this team does things. Somehow, this team got better pieces at the deadline by trading Peavy and Miller than they did from Lester and Lackey, and I have no idea how that happened. There are too many baseball decisions made by people who clearly know nothing about baseball.

 

Alcohol is great. I just don't think an organization should depend solely on it for profits, unless its a brewery. I also found Wrigley field to be extremely underwhelming.

And Fred never had that bad experience you're talking about at Dodger Stadium except when the Dodgers won the few times I even went there. Please note...I HAVE NOT ROOTED FOR THE DODGERS SINCE 1957, THE LAST YEAR THEY PLAYED IN BROOKLYN. A. Love him or hate him, the Boss was a great owner. He rebuilt that franchise from the ash pile of the 1960's

I still like this organization even though I'll readily admit they have f***ed up some things royally the last 5 years or so. I still like them because they're still pumping the proper amount of money into the payroll each year and they're still trying to put good teams on the field. I like that they have built up such a stockpile of prospects and managed to hang onto almost all of them in the recent flurry so we can still look forward to watching guys like Betts, Bogaerts, Swihart, Owens and the rest.

 

I will be loyal to these guys unless they really do something to screw us, but I don't think they'll do that because I think they're smart enough to realize that their fandom in general won't be screwed with.

 

I've been a fan since 1969 so obviously the 3 titles has bought me a lot of loyalty.

 

On the other hand I have it pretty easy because I'm kind of a remote fan now whose only financial investment in the team is the $100 I spend on MLB.TV. If the Sox are losing a game 6-0 in the 2nd inning I can just watch something else. I think people who spend their dough to go to the actual games do have a bit more of a right to complain about 69-93 and 71-91 records.
