Just read this rumor on ESPN:

BREAKING NEWS OUT OF DETROIT. Sources close to GM Dave Dombrowski are reporting that within the day there will announcements of two major transactions. One, Max Scherzer is in the final stages of signing a 6 year $185 million extension. Two, the Tigers are VERY close to completing a blockbuster trade for Andrew McCutcheon from Pittburgh....wOW. Sources say the Tigers will send Nick Castellenos, Rajai Davis, Al Albuquerque, and stud pitching prospects Johnathan Crawford and Kevin Ziomek in exchange. If completed this transactions would certainly make the Tigers World Series favorites. Source say expect chatter to pick up around 1:00pm EST with announcements likely close to 3:00pm.

Would be an outstanding rotation and lineup. Yeah, they would be the favorites to me.

The Rays! Wow. They've wrecked havoc on their team. First Price for spare parts, then Hellickson, Joyce, and now Will Myers is off his way. McGee is already hurt, Maddon left for the Cubs. There isn't much left, and Zobrist may be next.

Rays are the buzz of the day. They are in talks with SD for Myers supposedly but it could be way more than that. Rumors say it could end up being a 3 or 4 team deal. This deal could send ripples haha

Seems like the Rays are draining all the good things that they achieved in recent years just like that, or what am I missing?

Who knows? But it sure seems like they are trying to reload on young prospects. This is what they have come to be known for.

It seems like they are trimming payroll, and getting ready to sell. There was an article recently about how they want to sell the team to an ownership group in Montreal.

You're not missing much my friend unless it skipped past you that the owners of this team might be contemplating on just selling out and letting the new owners deal with the problem. By unloading all their assets they might want to get younger and cheaper and give the owners a team that is not expensive in payroll.

Why are the Yankees fans so excited they got Chase Headley? Is there something I am missing? I was cringing when I heard the Sox were interested.

Pablo Sandoval, 2012-2014: .759 OPS, 116 OPS+, 8.2 WAR, $90 million

Chase Headley, 2012-2014: .782 OPS, 123 OPS+, 13.6 WAR, $50 million

If he stays healthy, Headley could be a steal. Excellent defense, solid offense. He's had some serious surgeries to both knees in the past, but besides that no red flags. He also may get injected with some bad steroids by A-rod while he is sleeping.

The reason for the difference in contracts is that Pablo is three years younger, and brings more market and PR value. I'd prefer Headley myself, but we'll see.

Fred what the Rays are doing is what they always seem to be doing. Controlling their payroll by adding mid-tier vets and loading up on cost controlled young prospects and talent.

And just in case you have missed it, within the last week the City of St. Pete has consented to allow the Rays to look into another county as well as Tampa in which to build another stadium. I have heard nothing about them selling off the team.

Losing Maddon and the well regarded GM ( Friedman ?? ) hurt to be sure. But that franchise is not crumbling in my view.

My GUESS is that is all chatter surrounding the Rays efforts to relocate within the Tampa metro area.

Montreal??? Oye.

Never really been a Wil myers fan. Dude is almost 25 and people act like he's a kid. I like the movem

25 is still young given his skill set.

.

The promise of his kind of power intoxicates baseball people.

Oh, and I kind of agree that he has not been all that impressive. Now he has to get back totally from injury.

CWS continue loading the Ship. They just got Kottaras.

Seems like the wind city finally will have good teams.

I did miss it Spud so thanks for the heads-up. I did hear some rumor of a Montreal group who would like to buy the Rays and move them to Canada. Sorry, but they would be better off staying where they are if they could get a new ballpark. The one they have now is a total dump in my opinion.

It is said to be a bad place to see a game but I've always wanted to go there to watch the Sox and yell all types of stuff because the place is cavernous and usually quite empty. I'd like to Heckle someone like that clown with the "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMAN" rant from behind home plate. Remember that ass clown?

I've never seen a game form inside a domed stadium. I would like to try it once.

Seems like Slim's hand is in effect.

While Los Padres are trying to contend next season, Braves are all in rebuilding. Interesting how those divisions are looking like.
