I hope that the Sox can somehow land Shields. I bet 5/120 would do it.

Not very comfortable with having him pitch years 4 and 5 at his elevated age but hey, this is what the pitching situation has developed into.

Good post. I believe this is what Cherries meant when he said that there are multiple ways to build a rotation.

I'm still hoping for a #1. Not necessarily and Ace but as you said, a Stopper.

I doubt that the Sox will get a #2 now if they get a #1.

Maybe they can move Buch????

Getting innings eaters may be as important as anything else when building a staff. If you can get 800 to 900 innings out of your starting 5, you will probably have a very successful season. Buch has been a make it or break it type guy for us in the last 3 years. He had 2 stinkers and we came in last place. When he came out of the blocks at 11-0 in 2013, we won a Championship. I'd roll the dice with him as a #4 or 5. Edited by a700hitter

Hamels has to be the right kind of deal. In my book he's no higher then a #2 until he proves otherwise in the AL. But ys he's be opening day SP

I'd give up anything but Owens, Swihart and Betts.

XB?

If we go after Hamels, be prepared to see one of them or more going to Philly.

I could be talked into it. I wouldn't give anything else of value.

This is the kind of hippy dippy ******** that I'm a sucker for.

This is actually a pretty damn good post.

Everybody is talking about pitching which is ok, but I wonder who is going to back up Vazquez?, Ross?. I would like to see here a guy like Rosario, seems like he could be traded but I'm not sure.

His last two larger posts are actually. I was gonna say something but thought he might take it as sarcastic lol

A defensive backup catcher is a dime a dozen. It's not a pressing need right now.

Ben supposedly working on another deal. The Reds just traded Simon, and the Marlins are working on Latos. Maybe the Reds are blowing it up, and Cueto is available?

@PeteAbe: #redsox just postponed a media session with Ben Cherington. More moves brewing.

Interesting.

Yesterday, sometime after the Wiley trade, Cherries was quoted as saying there would be no more moves until after this weekend.

Now we see that Cespedes was moved for Porcello.

I don't know what to believe!!!

I do believe that if the Sox want any part of Shields that they will have to act fast and hit hard with a big offer.

Holy s***. In Ben we trust.

Yeah. Funny how the panic after loosing Lester has now subsided.

I like what he has done to build a rotation so far.

Previously, Ben said no moves were going to happen in the winter meetings at all, and they just had laid out the groundwork for a few deals. You can't trust everything you hear this time of the year.

@PeteAbe: James Shields lives in this area and the #RedSox are believed to have met with him personally.

I should hope so...

Ben being stealthy.

I'm surprised to see Cecchini and WMB stick around so long. They seem like the prospects most likely to be traded

I'm losing track of who has been traded already. The activity around the league is unreal. And still nothing on Scherzer, everyone playing musical chairs and trying not to get stuck with him haha

I can bring the goods. ;) I don't take you as sarcastic.

Gabe Speier was the 3rd player in the Porcello trade. Long way from the majors but shows promise. Had tommy john surgery in 2013 and in 2014 had a 26:1 K:BB ratio in 29 IP which is pretty impressive, even if it was just Rookie league

Marlins deal for Latos is almost done. Down two starting pitchers already, these guys surely can't be going for it in 2015 -- Cueto and Leake must be in play.

They could add to Bailey, Cueto and Leake. Who knows
