I hope they don't end up like the giants. I don't expect another championship but I would like to see them make the playoffs.

Adam the Anvil Lind.

Time to bring your boy Rubby and give him a chance to get shelled like Doobie and Candy Ass do. But, who knows? He may actually be as good as you say he is. You do say it, don't you?

Pop up fact: NESN, your broadcasts are turning to s***

Just like the team.....monkey see, monkey do. Hear Shaughnessy today? He now thinks the 2013 team was the aberration and that this ensemble and the 2012 one have more in common. Two more weeks like this and I will fully back up what he says. Right now we really suck.

This is why Gomes never stays more than 2 years at any place.

We got the maximum from Gomes last year, the best that he could give in talent and spirit and drive. The prince has turned into a pumpkin and it will be time for him to find a new venue next season......if not before. And even though I'm not that enamored about Bradley why was he sitting against a righty and Gomes was in there instead when it is pretty well known to everyone, except Farrell of course, that Gomes hits righties about as effectively as Drew hits lefties........as we will also soon see.

If 2013 was an aberration, it was like a beautiful dream. It would be embarrassing to sandwich a World Championship between two sub .500 seasons. In 47 years since 1967, the Sox have had a very small handful of sub .500 seasons. Most of them were under Butch Hobson's tenure.

Shaughnessy is a tool Fred, don't align yourself with him. This is the same clown who wouldn't let up on Schilling with the Blogbloy Blowhard crap. He loves being front and centre on any negative s*** that applies to the Sox.

Who cares if 2013 was an aberration? What are they supposed to do, give back the rings?

I said before the season and I say again, 2013 was an aberration. Not sure if the whole bearded brothers thing or the bombing gelled them together, but they all seemingly put up their career averages or career years at once. That isn't sustainable. Remove your all star leadoff hitter, top 5 offensive catcher and to this point, your top 10 SS and the whole ball of wax melts

If it was an abberation, losing Jacoby, Salty and Drew wouldn't matter, right? They'd suck anyway because of natural regression.

If it does turn out to be an aberration, remember for the umteenth time, we were supposed to be in rebuilding mode and still are. Talk to us in a season or three. Also remember Mr Yankee that while your gloating, were still the champs.

I agree, I would love for a bridge yr to turn out to be a title year, even if it was one massive coincidence.

Xander is starting to swing a hot bat, up to .282/.380/.400 now

With better luck he should be hitting .300 thanks to his high line drive rate.

Bell, I've heard all the stuff about Shaughnessy but in this case he may be right. To me we look more like 2012 than 2013. This season is getting fast away from us. We need a turnaround and quick.

In most cases, championship teams are unsustainable aberrations.

Granted the 2014 Sox are taking more of a nosedive than most championship teams.

But hardly anybody repeats anymore - nobody's done it since the 2000 Yanks.

Shaughnessy is a puke. Almost everyone knows this. That does not mean that he is wrong all of the time. This team shows little signs of life so I would not hold my breath for too long waiting for that turn around Fred. Moves that should have been made during the off season are crippling this team now. Moves need to be made now if anyone hopes to see this team in the post season this year.

I am generally not a gloom and doomer. I'm just a pragmatist. I'm very discouraged by the way this team is playing and I don't believe that all will be well once the weather warms up. That is naive and stupid.

I hope Shank Shaughnessy suffocates on his wet blanket. He is the embodiment of s***** sports media.

Because of the fact that I would have to subscribe to the Globe ( which I refuse to do! ), I never get to read his work anymore.

He lives or did live in Newton and he socialized with the same crowd as my Sister and Brother-in-law. He was seen as a pompous blowhard by people at cocktail parties from what I have been told.

It was a blessing when Shaughnessy's crap was moved to the pay section of the Globe.

Maybe so but I miss reading Pete Abraham each day. I used to read the printed version of the Globe each day for many years. Now I refuse to pay for it because most of what I could read there is available on line for "free".

Really, The Globe has screwed up by having two on-line pages with ads.

I'll read the "free" one, thank you.
