It looks bad from a PR perspective for the Red Sox to have an announcer (president of RSN by the way) whose son is about to have a very public trial in the sox' backyard during the season. Especially considering how heinous and brutal the murder was

I'm sure no one thought about that when they considered letting him come back to NESN. God, what a bunch of morons. You love it jacko. We get it.

You can't blame Remy for his son's actions. You try hard as a parent to raise your children right. Unfortunately, it doesn't work out that way. His son is a thug, we all agree on that. Parents, even when they mean well, will try to protect their children, and see the best in their potential. I would never want to be in Jerry's place, and I'm sure there's not a moment that goes by that he wonders what he could have done differently in raising his son to avoid such a tragedy.

Back to the point... I always liked Remdawg, I think his old-timer ways are endearing, but I also enjoy dad-jokes. I think is accent helps identify with the new england community. Again, Ek would be great, but reports I've seen is that he just doesn't want the job. It can be exhausting and tiring. Millar just seems like he'd be a lot of fun in the booth. Not sure about any of that Yankee-admiration talk. He always seems like someone who really loved his time with the Sox.

The problem with Millar as that he doesn't know when to shut up. I like Orsillo and Remy as they don't really 'over-talk', unless they get on one of their rolls, where Don feeds Jerry lines and it's really good stuff. Classic, of course, is the pizza-slice-throwing incident from a few years ago.

You really can't appreciate just how good Don and Jerry are together until you listen to other tandems on a regular basis. For example, Gary Thorne and Jim Palmer are so bad that many O's fans I know turn off the sound to listen to the radio feed instead.

Out here in LA the Dodgers have Vin Scully who is the greatest announcer in baseball history, so we can't compete there. However, in my opinion, the best tandem is Orsillo and Remy. Have you guys out there ever heard some of the other twosomes that announce games. The Giants, Dodgers (when Scully in on TV), Angels, Padres in the West, and the Mets, Yankees and Orioles in the East have real second raters in comparison. I love listening to Don and Jerry on my computer screen because they both know baseball and don't try and ram a ton of stats down your throat, nor do they put you to sleep with their droning on and on, and they certainly don't come across like know-it-alls. Sorry if Remdawg is on the way out; I hope somehow he can stay.

Have to disagree re: Mets. Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez are excellent. Darling in particular is wonderful.

You're a mite late Gomes. I got a call from a friend to lurks on this board but for some reason doesn't post. He told me the same thing. I stand corrected where the Mets are concerned but there are a lot of bad tandems out there and I've enjoyed Don and Jerry for over a decade.

Well, not really...! I mentioned them on 5/2 on this thread... ;-) But I agree, there are more bad than good these days...

Heard a lot of vitriol hurled Remy's way on the airwaves today. As it turns out, the kid was arrested 12 times and Jerry pulled strings to keep his son out of jail each time. His enabling allowed his son to go around telling people that he could get away with anything. Well, not anything there Jared.

I can't stand Vin's voice, particularly with no counterbalance of another voice in the booth. It's grating as hell hearing him prattle on nonstop, especially after the 100th useless fact, like the opponent's backup shortstop's father used to work in a toothpick factory.

This is probably the best thing for RemDog - to have his son plead guilty, avoid a long drawn out trial. As far as whether or not Remy should stay on the air, it's a tough call, who wouldn't help out their own child. However, Jared was given chance after chance until someone ended up dead. But RemDog didn't commit a crime while the son has committed many crimes.

Speaking of Remy's son, the animal has actually saved everyone a lot of time and pleaded guilty. Life without parole. What a f***ing scumbag.

Maybe he'll take drop his pants to tuck his shirt in in the booth.

This is how I feel in this matter. Why punish Remy for the criminal acts of his Son? I'd fall on a sword for either of my kids. Fortunately, both are good human beings and I have had no cause to intercede in their lives to protect them.

Well, we're not talking speeding tickets here, his son was having issues with domestic violence.... But I don't know how far he went in 'string pulling', I hadn't really read that. All the same, ultimately, it's Jared responsible, not his parents. And I think he realizes that - I saw that he didn't want his parents at his sentencing and took responsibility (although he did accuse his GF of having a knife and threatening him with their daughter). Either way, here's hoping that everyone involved can have some closure now.
