They have been excellent. Tampa has been poor - especially poor at the stuff they NEED to be good at. Of course Shaugnessy wrote his article about how the series is ovah, but that's silly. 3 games is a bad weekend. That said, have to like how the team has approached these fireballers.

That's why I don't even read a word of Shaughnessy anymore. How idiotic can you get.

oh, no doubt the Rays have imploded on D in this series..i have no doubt they'll still get after it at the Trop...i wouldn't dismiss them just yet, but as a Yanks fan, witnessing firsthand how relentless the Sox lineup is...no way they are beating the Sox 3 straight times...if at all..this goes 4 the most..

I don't dismiss them at all - but entering the series, we looked at bat-missing pitching and superior defense as two distinct checks in the Rays column - and the Rays screwed both of them up. I thought (and I suspect I am not alone) that Tampa was a slight favorite assuming both teams play to form ... but Tampa has forgotten to bring their strengths to the party so far.

Can't dismiss the Rays going into that dungeon they play in. Nobody plays good baseball in that place but the Rays and I am sure that is just familiarity doing its thing. Even with that, I don't think the Rays can win more than one game down there...tonight's game is probably a prime candidate.

Honestly, the home park thing is not about the usual things like dimensions or LF vs RF or stuff like that. I have said for awhile now that the Sox may be a better Comerica team than the Tigers and may be a better OC.com team than the A's. The Trop s*** is all about not being able to get comfortable in that place. Everything sounds weird...looks weird, lighting is off plus the catwalks plus the idiotic bullpens, plus the surface....it is just terrible...Go down to your basement if you have one and think about playing a ML baseball game down there. You will get the idea.

Frankly glad they did not bring JBJ for this series. I would expect some huge rodent to pop out from behind the CF wall and cart him off someplace to feast on him.

Well, last night they got that one game. And I hope you're right that they won't win more than one there. I am very nervous about a potential game 5, even at home and with Lester going. I don't know that he can (or will) duplicate his tremendous game 1 effort. I think he'd pitch pretty well, but that might be a 7 ip, 3 r kind of game. And I think odds are good that Moore or Price would do better than that this time around.

So I want it over TONIGHT. I want Peavy to go 7 ip, 5 h, 2 r, 2 bb, 7 k, and I want the Sox to light up Hellickson, Archer, and Moore (who they'll likely see).

I want the Sox to put up 5 runs in the first 3 innings and win going away....no stress.

Well Juice you can have everything, but you got mainly what you and the rest of us wanted.....a win and an end to this series. I wouldn't have wanted to risk a game #5 either, Boston or not.

I was really sweating that last game in the Trop out. But while there is no way I wanted to see that series go 5, I felt like we would pull out a game 5 up here if we had to play one with the Rays. I think that means we would not have had Lester for game 1 of the league champ series though.

Yeah, I'll happily take it. It was a sweet win for sure. LOVED having a Longoria K be the last out of the series.

You know, we sit here and worry about either Oakland or Detroit. But the Red Sox are a team that other teams should be worried about.

Right Juice, we should allow their fans to worry about us instead of the other way around. There was a little angst earlier before the ALDS from some of our friends here that we would be better served playing the Guardians instead of the dangerous Rays. To me it would have been a better match too but it never dawned on me that we couldn't take care of Tampa even if it had to go five games. Right now the Tigers are beating the A's, 2-0, in the top of the fifth on a Cabrera two run homer while Verlander has retired all 12 batters he's faced. Right now we are going to play El Tigre if this keeps up. If we are ready and well prepared I like our chances.

I like our chances against either team but what is happening tonight is in part why I have consistently said I would perfer to see Oakland than Detroit (there I should have just smacked Detroit with the jung kiss of death right there).

Seriously though, the Tigers have more starting pitching that can just come out and shut you down. That worries me more than anything the A's can throw at us. Cabrera being below par for him is helpful. However as we see, make a mistake to him and you can still be in trouble. Regardless of which team we play will be interested to see if Farrell has been cured of challenging the most dangerous hitter in the opponent's line up. My guess No...not cured yet.

I think that if our offense cools off like it did a little bit in games 3 and 4 with Tampa, then the Tigers have a shot. We should be fine for the first two games. We won't get Verlander until at least game 3, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Scherzer on Sunday, having only pitched out of the pen on Tuesday. Heck, he might even start game 1. I like our team at home though. It'll be tough to beat us when we have a good offense putting up runs, and our aces shutting opponents down. Assuming Oakland doesn't pull a monster comeback here, this should be a really good series. I want to see it go down to 7, purely as a baseball fan.

Well that tore it. If I have to see that f***ing Tigers pitchers mound, post game cheer at Fenway I will hang myself. Beat these pussy cats.

At the risk of saying something that can come back to haunt me my friends, it should be a damn good series, us and the Tigers. Selfishly speaking I hope it goes at least six games so I can get to Boston and watch our team take those guys on. Too late to go this weekend so I'm stuck at the back end of the that series because I have already made up my mind that I do not get caught dead in that shithole of city where the Tigers play.
