I know, after 2011 we're all hesitant to declare them playoff bound.

But....through 147 games in 2011, the Red Sox had a 4 game lead on the Rays.

Through 147 game this year, they've got a 9.5 game lead.

This ain't 2011. (That's what I have to keep telling myself too).[/QUOTE]

The team's two biggest critics ( we all know who they are) have gone on the record saying they are happy with the season's results. If they complain about the end result, well, it is what it is.

Complaints about the end result are fine and to be expected. I just don't think anyone can say "the Red Sox sucked this season" That wouldn't be accurate.

The Sox staff is getting HEALTHIER, not the way it was in 2011. 2013 Ryan Dempster would arguably be (next to Lester) the best pitcher Boston wheeled out during the last month of 2011.

Everyone should ease their minds. There are no signs of a 2011 collapse. I think that they have more wins this month than they had in all of September 2011. The problems with that team were starkly evident to anyone who wasn't willfully blind. We were rolling absolute garbage cans to the mound three out of every 5 games and Lester and Beckett were underperforming too. They had no chance to win at all in 60% of their games. The bullpen got completely gassed because our starters stunk, and our #4 hitter was mired in a second half power outage. Add on top of it all that the team didn't seem to have any fight and it was a complete tsunami-like disaster. None of that stuff is going on now. The team is hitting on all cylinders. They are fighting through everything. Also, in the long history of the Red Sox, they have never blown a September lead this large-- not even in 2011. We can just enjoy the rest of the season and debate who we want to play in the post season.

Maybe we should wait for someone to say that before we start worrying about how we will react to it. Why borrow trouble?

You know how people are out here. I'm not worrying about anything just making a statement.

In all honesty, my original post wasn't referencing Fred or A700. Fred went on record and said this was a playoff team in the offseason. He was 100% correct. He's also been much easier to read this year and seems to have a great attitude. He gets a lot of respect from me for that. I wasn't referencing A700 because I have him on ignore and really have no idea what he posts unless someone quotes him. Again, he doesn't matter to me. I don't talk about him or make reference to him in anyway shape or form. If he gets upset over something I say, that's on him.

That's the last I'll mention it because I don't care.

Erik Bedard is not coming through that door ...

Kyle Weiland is not coming through that door ...

Tim Wakefield's Corpse is not coming through that door ...

Agree on everything - although "lack of fight" is probably an inevitable result from observing the steaming piles of garbage who were forced to start important games. This year - even the less effective starts have at least gotten innings and the bullpen has 4 or 5 reliable relievers. We know Koji will fall off - only because it is impossible for anybody to keep the pace he is setting - but the pitching staff is a strength and getting stronger.

I agree with you on fred and never thought I'd say that. Much better to read. I understand your stance on 700. I know you've had him on ignore for a long time.

You could see the morale of the players getting crushed that September. After a while, I think they were numb, like victims in a tragedy.

I can't believe how much the Sox are just absolutely running away with this thing. It's a beautiful thing.

Yes it's shocking, in the best way. Shocking in the best way things just don't happen that often.

I wonder how Valentine feels watching the clubhouse he wrecked last season make a push for 100 wins this season.

That bozo probably thinks he made a positive contribution to this. Bozos like that can convince themselves of anything.

On the local NY news today, I caught the end of some story about Bobby V criticizing the Yankees for community efforts after 9-11. I could b e wrong, because I just hear the very end of the report, but that was my understanding.

He does. He thinks that he did his job well with us. He said something like that when he took his college coaching job. Edited by a700hitter

The only season aside from 04 and 07 that I enjoyed more was 99. They're winning, are fun to watch and have completely erased the debacle of 2012 for me.

I'm not exactly sure how going 9-8 makes you a legend bro.http://jwtalk.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/bearedSmiley.gif

I've won important and harder games. I'd say I had the toughest schedule out of the four. Let me be!

You're like Troy Aikman. Not bad but made to look better than he is by the HOF talent around him. ;)

I've had the easiest GT schedule. Couple losses vs the Jays this season.
