Just like I'd wanted us to do.

Eh, I'd rather have f***ed them (pause) by getting Lee for a minimal return, but letting them f*** themselves is always nice. I want to watch that crumbling house of cards collapse over the next few years.

Yeah. Watching Ruben Amaro screw that franchise is rather enjoyable.

We sent Wendelken, Montas, and Rondon to CWS, per Red Sox official Twitter account.

I tend to assume my team has made a good trade if I can't recognize the names of the people we gave up.

So Iggy and three guys almost no one has heard of... that's the definition of a steal in my book

Montas would be the only one to worry about in the deal. He was our 22nd best prospect at the beginning of the season and was now at 36th. (Soxprospects)

20 year old pitcher, 96-100mph fastball, below average command. Typically viewed as a reliever going forward.

Edit: Wendelken was our 13th round pick from 2012, he was a reliever on Greenville, Montas was a starter on Greenville, and Rondon was a 2B on Lowell.

Replaceable... not worried at all there.

Hopefully Peavy can work out some of his homerun issues because Fenway can be very unkind if you have problems giving up the long ball.

It seems like he has issues with lefties. I think Victorino, Ells, and our cavernous right field can help him with that.

My view: After this deal, we still have one of the best top 10 farm systems in baseball.

We might even still be top 5. Assuming Iglesias no longer counted as a prospect and according to Soxprospects we lost 1 top 40 prospect (36th)

I'd say 6th-7th at worst.

So......does Ben Cherington officially lose the "Boob" title for the time being?

For my money... yes. This is a steal of a trade as it sits now. Obviously that could change down the road, but on paper, we made out like bandits.

Never should have had it in the first place, he just has long term goals for the team.

Iglesias has long lost his prospect status.

It takes a DL stint or two to sour the deal, but realistically it's hard for this to be a bad trade for us, short term and long term. Even if one of those Class A players makes the majors.

Verdict: Excellent trade for the Sox.

Iglesias and a bunch of nobodies for an aging but still effective Jake Peavy.

I prefer Peavy to a king's Ransom for Cliff Lee. Lee is going to be 35 in less than a month. How many post-steroid era pitchers age well into their late-30s? Lee's next start could be his last as an ace. The same is true of Peavy due to his injury history, but we didn't pay much for Peavy.

Roughly where would you have our system after the trade? (Probably where you had it before the trade, right?)

Yeah they gave up nothing from the upper echelons of the system.

Hiroki Kuroda, but i get your point.

I think it's a good trade by the Red Sox, they sold high with Iggy, although Peavy hasn't pitched that well in the AL and now he has to pitch in the East.

I like boobs. When I call him Ben the Boob, it is a term of affection. BTW, I wonder when was the last time that someone used that term in reference to Benny.
