With an epic win in seattle today, the red sox improve too 57 and 37. With 68 games remaining, this means if the sox play just 500 baseball here on out, they will still finish with a record of 91 and and 71. What do you guys think the red sox will finish the season at( there final record)?

94-68. The bullpen has taken a number of blows, with Hanrahan, Miller, Wilson and Morales (probably) out for the season. They likely need to find not one but two replacements if they want to hold onto their momentum.

Seems reasonable to me.

I agree, I feel like they can use a lefty (like Oliver Perez or what Andrew Miller was) and an arm like a Bobby Parnell, Matt Albers type. (I'm not saying that Parnell and Albers are the same type, I just mean a decent/good middle relief/set up option, especially if Morales, Wilson, and Miller are out for the year. Hopefully Wright can continue to cover mop up performances/piggyback starts and hopefully Workman can be a work man so we can work....man. (Two bad puns in a row)

I think they have a shot at 100. Their strength of schedule in August is incredibly weak. Astros, Royals, Blue Jays, Giants, White Sox all included. The way they've been playing, especially at home, I wouldn't be surprised if they make it to 100.

Winning 100 would be awesome, but just win the division, that's all I care about right now to be honest.

Having said that, like Thunder said, the August schedule looks like something they should take advantage of. And it comes right in time, as that's right during the dog days.

Don't think the Sox need to do anything drastic at the deadline myself, but a couple small improvements should put this team in position to cruise to an AL East championship.

I think 'cruise' is a little wishful. The Rays are only 3.5 back and have a very good chance to be closer than that at the break, as they're at home to the Astros for the next three.

Have you seen their second half schedule? It's tough. Right now, they're going through the same stretch of games that the Sox get in August.

After the break, the Rays will have 66 games left. Of those games, only 28 will be at home. At the break, they will have played an astonishing 53 of their first 96 games at home. That leaves 28 home games and 38 road games left in their schedule. Considering they're .500 on the road, that doesn't bode well for them.

Not to mention their road games aren't exactly easy. 6 @ TOR, 4 @ BOS, 6 @ NYY, 3 @ BAL, a 6 game West Coast Trip vs the NL West (2 @ ARI, 4 @ LAD), a 10 game west coast trip (3 @ OAK, 4 @ LAA, 3 @ SEA). Plus a rainout makeup game @ KC for 1 game on an offday between two home series, so even in their homestand they're traveling.

They've been playing well, but they've got a tough second half.

Especially when the Sox have more home games (34) than away (31) in the 2nd half.

I'll probably keep bringing this up... but the Rays have an insane end of the season. 36 games in 37 days, with the day off being a travel day from Seattle to Tampa. Several series versus AL East teams, a west coast trip, and a long series at the Rangers. The Sox just need to keep winning, and Rays should wear down, hopefully.

I'm not freaking about the Rays but they're not to be taken lightly IMO. Price missed a month and a half, in his first 2 starts since returning he gave up 1 run in 16 innings. Archer the punk has been pitching pretty well.

I agree with Dojji, I'm just enjoying the ride. If we manage to make the playoffs, wonderful. If we have the best record in the AL, even better. Won't matter if we win 92 or 102 games as long as we have home field advantage.

Same with me. But that one game elimination wild card game scares me too death.

My birthday is October 16th, which is generally during the first few games of the ALCS. Should I ask for playoff tickets for the ALDS, or wait and hope they get to the ALCS and beyond?

I'm thinking ALDS.

Rays schedule does get harder after the All-Star break. If the Sox get to that part of the schedule still in first, and if they can avoid injuries they should be okay. They need to avoid the wild card game. That one and done is a tough one.

You are so lucky. I wish I had someone who would buy that for my birthday. Don't be crazy and wait for the ALCS. If they make they playoffs, hop on those ALDS tickets quick. Anything can happen in the playoffs.

Well my aunt took me to Buchholz's almost no-no the day before the Marathon and we sat at field level. She can hook me up for sure. I've always wanted to experience a playoff atmosphere in Boston. This season is ideal, coming off the Marathon bombings. I also want to go to an NFL game. I'm a New York fan for NFL, so I want to see Peyton vs Eli round III in September. I might have to stick with Sox tickets. Would be even better if it was the actual date of my birthday.
