Shutout gone but a hell of a start from Doubront. He has been stringing together some nice starts recently, both in terms of earned runs allowed and innings pitched. Hopefully this lead is Wright proof.

Ouch...home run to Brendan Ryan of all people in his first batter. ERA infinity. Giving up a double to Ackley as the next batter in front of Morales/Seager doesn't help. At least the M's took out some of their starters. (Franklin and Ibanez)

Even weirder is that Brendan Ryan was one of the players to come into the game, and in 2270 AB's that was his 18th career HR good for a career slugging percentage of .321. In Seattle.

Edit: And Morales doubles in Ackley so now it's 9-3 with still 6 outs to go, Workman giving up extra bases to the first 3 batters he faces.

Edit 2: His first out brings his ERA from infinity to 54.00.

I have no clue who should start sunday. I looked at rubby's stats for his last start and thought there was a typo for his game era o 162.0 on july 7th, as he gave up six runs and only got one out.

Well hopefully it is clear to Workman (if he is going to hang around for a bit) that while he has some zip on his FB it is flat as a pancake...just the type of FB that gets crushed in the bigs but sort of works in the minors. However he has a terrific hook. As long as he can throw that for strikes he can likely do something. Without it he appears to be pretty helpless.

Doubront, Lackey and Dempster have been our saviors with Buchholz down and Lester scuffling.

I agree. Buchholtz is scheduled for another bullpen this weekend and if all goes well he will go to AAA to pitch a couple games. Hopefully, we hold the fort and he comes back where he left off.

Looks like Fix-It-Felix had an excellent outing last night. We need that from him more often than not with the inconsistency of Lester recently.

The main concern is what the other AL east teams do at the deadline. Anything big could upset the balance. The Red Sox have to be concerned about that. So they have to be proactive--at least in shoring up the bullpen.

Good lineup depth. Starters pitching well. At least 4 of them. Just need more bullpen depth without sacrificing the farm.

That's where trades come in. If there are good players available, we can dump some above average prospects to help with theist season and even next year.

I had given up on Felix, glad he is getting his act together. I always thought of him being a 4inning pitcher but goes to show the unpredictability of this game. Lester continues to struggle and Felix has been the opposite.

keep it rolling.

Why did we call up Beato and Wright and get rid of Webby and Aceves?? And why didn't we go with Britton as a lefty instead of Wright?? We only have 1 LHP in the pen.
Webby was getting his spirit and confidence crushed. Aceves has an injury.

Anybody can start GT....especially when it is sort of just left open like this. I never do cause I know people like to and it just does not matter to me. So go for it anybody.

Another early bomb off Demps. As well as he has done, it just would not feel like a Dempster pitched game if he did not give up the early bomb.
