This will be the first time the Rockies have played at Fenway Park since the 2007 World Series, when the Rockies played Nicole to the Red Sox's OJ. The Rockies will be without Troy Tulowitzki, but will still have Carlos Gonzalez, so this won't be a cakewalk. However, the Sox have been pretty decent this season in the series following a series loss, so I think a two-game series at home may be just what they need to get back on track after a tough 4-game series in the unemployment capital of the world.

I await the lineups, as always courtesy of VA and her undoubtedly talented fingers. Which reminds me, VA, what are you doing Saturday night?

Part of Pasta Mojo includes not announcing whether or not it is in play. The one year I announced it before hand, it was not as effective. Thank you for reminding me, though, I have to update my signature.

If they do "give up" on WMB, it will be in a trade, and they'll have to get a really good return for him. They're absolutely not going to DFA him or sell low on him.

I could see him going in a deal to Philly, though. The team that likely needs a 3B the most this year would be our rivals.

Actually SFF I would never expect the Sox to just give WMB away or DFA him. Giving up on the player in this context would mean a trade. But if he is not doing very much, the Sox would not get back much for him. Then if another team did help get him straightened out, the Sox would enc up with the short end of the stick with the acquiring team ending up with a real bargain.

Some guys often make out via the K. Others often make out via the GB. I do not think I can remember a guy making out via the infield fiy as often as Drew.

Napoli really has been putting up some really good ABs lately. Not striking out as easily as usual and getting deep into counts. Very impressive.

Pedroia really likes playing Colorado. Remember that 3-HR game?

Pedroia, the diminutive second baseman with the vicious swing and colorful tongue, has many in baseball wondering how he's doing it. Pedroia, with 17 homers and 78 RBI, leads the American League in hitting with a .327 batting average, and the major leagues in hits, runs and multi-hit games. He joined Hall of Famers Tris Speaker and Wade Boggs on Saturday as the only Red Sox players to accumulate 200 hits and 50 doubles in a season.

And yet, one of his biggest difficulties is convincing outsiders he even plays in the big leagues.

He was stopped at the players' entrance at Coors Field in Denver during last year's World Series against the Colorado Rockies. The security guard didn't believe Pedroia was a player and shooed him away. Pedroia seethed. He produced his players' ID card, and the security guard questioned whether it was legitimate.

Pedroia, unable to contain his rage any longer, dropped a subtle reminder, much to the delight of Red Sox manager Terry Francona, who tells the story.

"He says, 'You don't know who I am? You don't know who I am?' " Francona says. " 'Ask Jeff f———- Francis who the f—- I am. I'm the guy who hit a bomb and just ended their f———- season."

Yeah, he seems to have cut down on his swing a bit. Finally got tired of all the mighty swishes.

CarGo had the better idea. Hit a pop up to the guy who might just rush it out of his glove for no reason and drop it.

Agreed. As he must have felt the need too adjust, since he hasnt hit a dinger since June 1st.

I think Napoli will go on another nice RBI run soon. And if he stays healthy I think his numbers at the end of the year will be solid.

Honestly, I much prefer the Napoli we are seeing right now. He's more disciplined at the plate and works counts. Yes, he had a bunch of RBIs early in the season but it really was all or nothing at that point. I think he serves us much more the way he hits right now.
