I was about to celebrate that Ellsbury is finally not leading off, but I guess it's just temporary with a day off. Either way it's good to see. I agree with Dojji on the Nava/Gomes switch though. Baby steps.

Not vs a LHP. Nava has a .290 OBP v LHP. Gomes has a .360 OBP vs LHP. Not to mention that Gomes has a track record of crushing LHP.

It may become permanent if the Sox keep winning though. This team sure is a streaky bunch, but they have been playing very well lately. Lets hope the fun continues!! Go sox!

I hope they take Ellsbury out the lead off until he show he can hit the ball hard again. Bats him 6-9th. He is just a replacement player since 2012.

The problem is that Dojji is a massive Nava homer. I'm sure he's aware of the numbers.

 

I'll admit though, he may have a point, as Nava is heating up again, and may be the safer play of the two, even with the splits.

The Red Sox are 6th in hitting and 6th in pitching in the latest AL stats. That's quite an improvement in pitching. Some of that is Farrell, and some is attitude--which was unprofessional last year. These guys gave up after the Dodger deal.

 

The Yankees are 9th in hitting and 3rd in pitching. I suspect they will come back to earth at some point. Their pitching isn't that good. And their hitting has been surprising--if that's the right word.

Hitting the ball to right center is what he did really well in spring training. Too bad those don't leave Fenway most of the time.

Nice catch by Nava. He has not hurt us at all in RF. This kid has made a habit of exceeding expectations.
