Wonder how long the leash is on Doubront.

I can't say it enough. I really think that we have at least 1 better SP in AAA than Doubront right now in Webster, and Hernandez could probably outperform him too.

The Sox are probably concerned about depth. Hernandez's numbers look good in AAA, but his fastball tops out at 86. Webster is probably a last resort-- only to be used if Doubront simply cannot go on. Pushing Felix to a long man role could be a problem in the long run.

Doubront gets one more start, and if he can't handle it, Morales is the sixth man.

Yeah I hear ya on Webby. I think Hernandez throws a bit harder than that. Either way, I wouldn't be shocked to see RDLR get a shot soon as well, depending on Morales and his progress. Hopefully, though, Morales can get 1-2 more starts and then jump on as the number 5 starter. At this point, Doubront is just an ineffective long man, at least until he regains his velocity.

He was borderline when he threw hard. Throwing 90 and walking 5 in 5 innings while throwing 100+ innings against end of the worse offensive teams in the game is not acceptable.

A little late for me but another solid win for the Sox. Lackey had a solid game, as I have said before this is a pretty streaky team. But my god when we are on we are tough to beat. Lester starting tomorrow the streak should hopefully continue. Been a fantastic day! Going to see Iron Man 3 to end the night. Hopefully it's good :P

If they remain disciplined they have a good shot at winning games because in reality the pitching has been fantastic...not good....fantastic. Expecting everyday shut-outs or ERA's below 2.00 for an entire season is unrealistic. This is what fantastic pitching across your staff looks like in this day and age. Felix is the one guy at this point doing poorly enough to upset the apple cart. I would love to find a way to push him off the end of the dock. Some may be disappointed in Dempster but we should not have expected more from Dempster than he is giving us.

They are getting very close to being back to the offensive approach they had at the start of the season....thankfully. I have no problem with WMB swinging at pitching up on the outer half. That pitch was going to fool nobody. It started up and flat and stayed up and flat.....hardly a power hitter alive would have let that pitch go by and that pitch was not even close to being in the neighborhood of the pitches that he struggles to hit. As it was that gail pushed it out to right center.

In reality, the Sox hit two long fly balls, one that was wind aided and Pedey's that was hit after the storm when the wind had died and that Willingham dumped over the wall in left. Ya' gotta' get some breaks over 162 games. How many breaks did the O's get across those 29, 1 run games last year?

Anyway, I think they should find a way to do something about Felix. If they can upgrade Felix, they are a very solid team as the other staff question marks all seem to have been answered in the affirmative at this point. Then it is a matter of the everyday players staying disciplined and not thinking they are something the are not and lighting candles for David's heels.

Watching the game now. Lackey pitched pretty good, only gave up a hit. The WMB HR was nice, it shows us signs of life. Nothing special, but it's something. We won, but something needs to be done with this RISP problem. I mean seriously, it's going to bite us in the ass if we keep doing this s***.

... And DPs, I'm tired of it mostly when we have a lead off with nobody out.

Can't do much about RISP problems. Just a statistical fluke really. It evens out in the end.

The good news is that the Sox have weathered the storm and the pitching has allowed them to stay in and win quite a few games while this has gone on.

It'll get better. May is just a regression from April but there is some middle ground that the Sox will find soon.
