I get the feeling that our streak is going to end tonight with Acevedo going against Masterson but let's hope the bats go out there and score enough to negate the thrashing of Aceves. Lets try to get 5 in a row.

Who the hell hacked your account? The real BornToRun always thought we could win, even if the whole team had no arms. Masterson used to own our ass when he first started but the last time he faced us, he lost 12-1. He gave up 6 runs on 7 hits.

Well okay then. Since I've been shamed into doing so, allow me to proclaim that we will brutalize these Guardians tonight at a level far worse than any of their previous hardships as a people. That is up to and including the Trail of Tears.

Better?

Actually, the Trail of Tears was only the second-worst thing we have ever done to the Native Americans, the first being Dances With Wolves.

Aww, I like Kevin Costner.

After watching both Waterworld and The Postman, he could drag me out of a burning building and give me a suitcase full of hundred-dollar bills and I would still never forgive him.

Aceves vs. Masterson does seem to put us at a disadvantage tonight, so maybe some reverse psychology isn't such a bad thing for this one. I think we're gonna get pounded tonight. Not much sense even showing up, really.

Much better!

I'm just joking my brotha. It's just weird to see you be pessimistic, even though your prediction is very realistic. Masterson has been on point so far this year, Aceves not so much. Optimism and comedy are your strong suits, stick to it. :D

Masterson has the same ERA as Buchholz. If only he were still on the Red Sox.

It would be good if the Sox won, because I am leaving for Maine tomorrow without access to TV's and such. Want to leave on a high note until I come back on Sunday.

This is actually the one starting pitcher I really wanted to see brought here. Knew it was a pipe dream especially with the Guardians trying to make improvements aimed at making a run. Maybe we get a real shot later this year if the Sox are still in it and the Guardians are out of it. I wanted Masterson more that Josh Johnson as I thought he would be a great fit back here.

Now that I have put the hex on him hopefully he will do his part to fail tonight.

RED SOX LINEUP

Jacoby Ellsbury, CF

Shane Victorino, RF

Dustin Pedroia, 2B

Mike Napoli, DH

Daniel Nava, LF

Will Middlebrooks, 3B

Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C

Stephen Drew, SS

Mike Carp, 1B

Alfredo Aceves, SP

Honestly, I see no reason why JBJ doesn't get the start here. Carp sucks. JBJ gets people excited and has a future here. Mike Carp should be let go-- whats the point? JBJ will go back down when Ortiz returns and Carp is useless.

Last night's win was pretty important, so it could help the team's confidence and make them concentrate on something other than our disadvantage on the mound (at least based on current stats).

It would be great if we could mess up Masterson's plans early in the game, just like we did with Jimenez.

I don't think Farrell wants to use JBJ cause he is so messed up right now. Farrell had already commented that he had seen disturbing signs suggesting that JBJ's confidence was shaken. He used JBJ in LF late in last night's game. That made sense as he is very athletic and Farrell was trying to cut down extra base hits in Progressive's big LF. However in truth he has made more mistakes in LF than he has made plays. I could see bringing him into last night's game late to cut down the chance of extra base hits but I think Farrell values JBJ's future more than a buzz for the fans.

The final K of JBJ's last start, he was so preoccupied that he apparently did not know he had just struck out and lingered at the plate. Remy even commented on it.

Carp should be long gone. I have no idea why they even held onto him when they let Overbay go. I think they had gotten Carp just a few days before they let go of Overbay ....I think???? Carp can play OF and 1st but don't we have that sort of covered at this point?

Has he even started a game? Played in the field? I know he's had like 2 or 3 AB's.

I want to see Napoli catch a game every now and then. Drew still can't hit, and Carp makes his first start.

I don't see that happening considering his hip issues.

Napoli was an attractive option in large part due to his versatility to go behind the plate for 40 or 50 games. As strictly a first baseman, he is a very meh otion.

Carp will see an average of less than 3 pitches per plate appearance.

Carp will strikeout at least once.

Carp will only create outs tonight.

Other than that, I think the rest of the Red Sox lineup will breakthrough vs Masterson and we'll get into Tito's bullpen a lot sooner than most expect.

If we win tonight, sweep is a lock.

Don't think it's Tito's bullpen. That's too low of a quality for Tito to control. Probably his pitching coach's bullpen.

JBJ is in a pretty extended slump. Having him sit is not the end of the world. He's going to be in Pawtucket as soon as Ortiz is ready anyways.
